....This is what happened on the first flight, when the
elevator servo broke loose....it has a metric spinner
nut, and that's the only screw they had at the hardware
store that would fit (after I cut it down)....

....you guys are brutal....

POOR.. to say the least...

You won't find UNF threads in a hardware store over here... no chance...

Some well sorted local hobby shops have a few screws maybe, but that's it.

Or you can go to an "industrial hardware store" and buy a box of 1000...

I was able to do a slick job on the tank, with a proper
foam installation. The tank on the stocker doesn't fit
well, and mounts on an angle....you can't foam it
properly either....

....the front retract mount was also beefed with some
hardwood and ply....

I was able to piece together what was left of the
bulkheads....trace them out on new plywood, and
they came out real nice.

The heigth of the nose ring came in perfect, using
the "by guess, and by golly" method of eyeballing.

I used eight pieces of flat stock to form back in the
sides....alot of planeing and sanding to get it back
round. The finish work was easy....the hard part was
making up all the parts.

Here's the way it is supposed to look....

....I was really bummed about it going in on the
maiden flight, but once I decided to repair it, and
got going....the pain quickly subsided....

....took two weeks for the restoration.... :
