Status: offline 		Yes, this would be a first, as a fast thing. I have also been told that the Ripmax rapiers are good.
I think that might be better for me whilst I'm still getting the ropes, it also gliders better.

Does anyone have any thoughts about the engine that comes with the Weston Magnum? If I decided to buy one once my F-20 is in the air, would it be wise to just pay the extra money for the engine and pipe, or just buy the plane seperate and put on a Hott Jett 50?...I have a Jett on my DC F-20 that i'm breaking in right now...Just wondering about the magnum's engine...Thanks

Status: offline 		They're sort of the same size aren't they. The magnum power combination kicks out tremendous power, might well do it for the f20. however is there a difference in their weights?

The BSE Jett 50's are about the hottest engine out, atleast I think so. The Jett put's out krazy power. I've read the magnums engine is supposed to be pretty good also. I was just wondering if it's worth buying their engine over the Jett 50 and a pipe

Wait for an answer here on this thread from someone who's had first hand experience.

I made wheel well inserts out of thin Balsa for the nose gear etc....Looks great though...Nothing like a Gear up fly by with a F-20

I like the price of the Mechs! and want to put them Into a Ripmax Phantom! ( any advice? )

The difference between the two is quality and realisim. Mechanical retracts are cheaper and do the job for a plane without a whole lot of money invested..I've had Mechanical retracts and the Landing gear strut always bends even on a minor landing and you have to bend them back into place, they always gave me problems and most other people i've seen with them say the same thing at my field...They're for a plane without a lot of money invested but still available to have retracts...For that they work fine..Also they are powered by pushrods and a servo to pull/push them up and down into locking place.

Pneumatic retracts are powered by pressurized Air...They also have a servo but it's only to activate the pressure valve. The servo doesn't connect to the landing gear itself so there's no stress on the servo....Pneumatic retracts in most cases are better quality and can handle more pounding, also with the correct valves you can make the landing gear retract slow and in some cases one wheel before the other (hand in hand) (Realistic)...Don't be scared of them they're about just as hard to install as Mechanical retracts but just cost more and do a better job..It's basically an Airtank and some small fuel tubes that you have to run for the air to flow Tank to retracts...Also some kits come with a hand pump/w Pressure Gauge (Like a bicycle pump) to fill your tank between flights etc.....I have them installed on my F-20...Work great

Status: offline 		If it was me?...I'd get the Pneumatics...I see on Tower Hobbies B&D has a complete kit for $75...That's a tricycle landing gear pattern on the Ripmax?....I don't know what the mechanicals are running in price now I'm guessing about $50...A few extra bucks you can have better quality...But!...Yes the mechaincals will work for the first time...I go for quality over price so on my plane pneumatics are the way to go....Mechanicals will do the job and give you the look also
