Thanks Razor!
How crazy it feels when the plane is flying to the left, and you are trying to correct it by going right on your transmitter, and the plane goes even more right, all that in a second...
CRAZY FEELING!!!
Anyways she is all ready and fixed up! Wing has no substained any damage from the small crash...
Will fly tommorow! CAN'T WAIT!

I just came back from the maiden flight!
Flew once,
GREAT FLYING PLANE!, Throws were too high and was kinda unstable during flight but that was fixed by turning on DR)
Since this is my first Prop-Jet it felt very wired to fly it, but boy is this thing fast with a TT .46 Pro, Plane lands very nice and lands slowly, but I still broke the prop by landing nosegear first, everything else is OK...

Nik: Congrats my friend! Broken prop.? Thats it? Sounds good to me.... Once you get the throws set just right and a couple touch and goes under your belt you will be saying- "I need more power and speed!" I DO like the Tower Muffler on the TT Pro. gets you about 500 RPM-

I have not flown the 40 size....makes me wanna get one though! How was the visibility with the silver?

Have you done some slow flying up nice and high to get used to the stall characteristics? You will be surprised how slow you can go---

Is that fixed gear? If so, we will have to talk you into some retracts and a Jett-50 next

Merry Christmas!

Nik,
What amount of throw did it fly the best at?? I had to cut down on the Patriot throws and these two planes are a lot alike. My Viper throws are so little on the elevator that you can hardly see it move.Mine will have the Jet 50 which may change the throw stuff.

Just curious
Walt

Razor:
I want to put in a 40 sized cyclon with 3.25 hp! How about Mechanical Retracts?
Yeah I flew it with a 9x8 prop today and it flew fast for the first couple of times and then I had the need for even more speed, any suggestions what prop I should use?
The silver covering is ok, I can see everything even far away, Yeah I did some slow flying and I'll tell ya, this plane glides in awesome! Lands perfectly on the runway-every time!

Q-ball
I fly at about 10-15 degree throw at the ailerons and full throw at the elevator...

Thanx Flyboy Dave. It's appreciated.

Finally gonna see what a Jet 50 does other than on a test stand.
Thanx again,
Walt

Thanx Gary,
It's yellow and metalflake maroon.Got the silver specks in it.I just used what I had in the bucket.
If it flies anything like the Patriot,I'll be satisfied. You'll be first to know.

Have a safe nite
Walt

I must have been a very good boy because Santa brought me a Jett BSE .50 for my DC F-20. Originally I wanted to use an O.S. .46VFDR and run the pipe through the fuse but there's not enough room. I'm thinking about rotating the engine with the head at about 200 deg. So that the muffler will tuck up closer to the fuse, a little left of center. Should help with the lateral balance too. Definitely going with retracts and full gear doors. I do have a couple of questions:
*Is anyone using pneumatics other thatn the Spring Air retracts on the small F-20(/F-5)?
*After all of the speed gain arguments, has anyone installed tail dragger gear? If you're trying to go fast, dropping that nose gear and the associated weight would be a good start. Before anyone complains that it wouldn't be scale. Go back to a 3-view of the full sized subject, neither the Cermark, Kange or DC are even close.
*Has anyone used the Jett "Bubbleless" (Dave Griffe) tank. So that you could mount it on the CG preventing nose gear interference issues and keep the cylinder sideways.
I'll post some pictures for you to enjoy.

BTW - Dub said that there is no performance difference between the Jett .50 and the Jett BSE .50, they turn up exactly the same numbers. "You're paying for shiny", and I like shiny.

Hey Chris,

Funny you should mention dropping the nose gear on the F-20, as this was something I was going to seriously consider when I got started with mine. The only real problem I can see with this set up is connecting the tail wheel. Of course, I may not even hook up a rudder (which would make it easier)....haven't decided yet.

Definately post some pics!

Gary

PS (not familiar with the bubbleless tanks)

Curious where you would move the main gear to balance the aircraft.

Flight Report:
The D/C F-20 flew easier than I thought this morning.Put three flights on it and the only triming was two cliks of left aileron. That was a surprise in itself.
I have to do some expoing as it flies different than my Patriot. The Patriot ailerons are somewhat soft.To turn you have to move the stick about half way.Smooth and predictable. The F-20 is ultra sensitive on the ailerons and very easy to over control so some expo should take care of that. I'm starting with 50% and go from there. I want the F-20 to handle very close to the Patriot and Viper as far as sensitivity.I started out with expo on the Patriot but one flight and I took it all out as it was way too soft.

Just checking in.Out for another try in the morning.
Happy flying
Walt

Will go again in the morning.

About an inch and a half in front of the spar (or so). Depends on what
you have to work with up there....are you talking about retracts ???

Dave.
