D/C F-20 wing in perfect condition.

Yep,fellow addicts that's all that's left of the F. Somemore F words were said at the field this morning.Don't know how it came out unharmed but the wind didn't suffer a scratch, the rest of the plane is in the garbage can.

Couldn't get it to fly even close to the way the Patriot flies and I guess I over/controlled and BANG!!! It started spriraling down and gave it up,but it didn't respond at all.

So here we are again with a Jet 50 sitting.Actually sending it back to Dub to check out. Doesn't appear that it hurt the engine except a busted muffler bolt and bent needle. I'll send it back just to make sure.

Back to the drawing board.
Walt

I have a NIB DC F-20 KIT, NOT ARF, that I'd sell.

Kit?? When did they stop making those. I don't believe I've seen a F kit. Is it a 40 size or what and how much are you wanting.
I'm kinda undecided on what to do now. I may slow down a bit but a Jett 50 on a Stick?? I don't think so.
The Patriot is still going but I built the Pat for the MVVS,not the Jett and it's fine the way it is.
Let us know.

Yo, Q-Ball....Chuck might have a good idea there. Get the kit, and some
extra lumber from the LHS. Duplicate all the fuse and related parts from
the kit. For the extra 20 bucks in wood....you end up with two planes.
Pretty good idea, huh ?

( Chuck, don't forget my commision. )

Dave,
The fuse (what was left of it) is headed for the dump. They just picked up the garbage. I don't see how the wing came out unscathed, the fuse was really busted up,inside and out.
I have the Jet on the way to Dub,
I have a MVVS 40 with pipe and a OS 61SF.
Just don't know which direction to go.

I think I'd still have the F,but it handled so differently than the Patriot.I'm still wondering about that one.

I'm gonna have to see what Dub does to the engine before I commit myself to buying anything rite now. Got my fingers crossed.

Have a good one
Walt

Yo, Q-Ball....

....sorry to hear about your "20" Dude, what a bummer. They
are as stable as can be, once you get them sorted out. They are
way quick on the ailerons at speed. See how low I had to set
my throws on the straight 4-ch. radio....no computer throw adjustment.

It still has a quick roll rate....(no expo ) I've not flown the Patriot,
so I can't compare....but I'd be suprised if it was as quick on the sticks
as the 20.

Razor,
I think I've seen in your hanger list that you have a Zen 50 with a YS 45??
Tell me about the Zen. Would it be closer to a speed plane or patern plane.I know it's called a pattern I believe. Just wondering what you think of it.Nice looker, just not jet lookin, but that's ok.
Fill me in.

I should have let some one else set the F up...The main problem was that I had flown the Patriot and the controls were soft. You had to move the sticks like half way to turn.I had gotten kinda used to that. The Viper was the same way as far as stick movement. Then I put the F up and man what a hand full. You could breathe on the stick and she was responding.I even went to low rates but it didn't help.Someone said that If you go to too low a rate on the ailerons and leave the elevator normal that it messes up the balance of control. Not an expert on that situation. I guess I paniced and over controlled and once over controling starts 50 ft up it's hard to come out of it. I do remember that once I saw her sprialing down I did give it up and she didn't respond at all.

If yall know someone that needs a wing, they can have it.Just pay the shipping. It's perfect but I think prying the landing gear wire out I may have loosened a block up but this is a easy fix.I don't have any use for it.

I sent the engine back to Dub for checking.

Now I have a Jet 50,MVVS 40,and a OS 61 SF.Won't buy anything till I see what Dub has to say.I guess yall know this but he charges $30 for checkin,$9 for shipping and $10 for removing any screws that are broke off plus parts. Nothin appeard to be broken except the muffler screw. The needle stem was bent but not broken.Sure glad the screws are made for breaking off.I sent it back mainly because of mud stuck in every hole on the engine.

Thanx for yalls sympathy.
Walt........I can still crash with the best of em'.lol

Walt,

Sorry to hear b'out your F-20.

I've flown both the Patriot, albeit a few years back, and the F-20 (currently) and find there was/is not much difference between the two. I've always been one to have "max" throw, and rely on my "touch" to feel the plane out. Now, with the new computer radios allowing the users to "soften" the sticks, to me that tends to take away from the "feel". I know, as I've flown FBD's planes, and don't like that sensation of moving the stick and not having the plane react.

Perhaps you had a big difference between the two? With the speeds these types of planes are capable of, I think the radios should be set up very similar with respect to throw/stick movement. Especially if your fairly new to these.

If your looking for a "cheap" ARF to throw that 50 at, check out the Mad Dog 40 at Hobby People, or git yourself (an Ol' FBD favorite) a Kaos. Either one of these should be able to handle the speed the 50 offers. I'm actually going to go look at the Mad Dog too for my (breakin' in) Jett. I saw it on on sale for $119.00 a week or two ago.

Don't get discouraged, SPEED costs $$, and sometimes in more ways than one!

Gary

Q-Ball: My Zen-50 has a YS-63 (4 cycle-) with an APC 12x7 turning about 10K and it is pretty fast- It is definitely considered a pattern plane but back in the day pattern planes were always near 100 MPH (YS-60 2 cycles, Rossi-61's etc...)

The plane flies on rails and rolls faster than anything I have seen I HIGHLY recommend this airplane as WM ARF's are outstanding products, durable, and easy to get dialed in if it is built straight-

I set-up my airplanes VERY sensitive- and use triple rates... I usually turn them to "low" when I let someone fly one of my planes-

I use expo. from 25%-45% on Ail. & Elev., if you use Futaba (-) means less sensitive around the center, JR (+) means less sensitive around the center-

Here's a pic of my brand new Jett .50, and D/C F-20. Both are pristine and unmolested. I haven't even turned the motor over. As soon as my T-34's done I'll jump into this one. The theme will be fit and finish, lots of sanding, maybe a wing fillet, retracts with flush gear doors, etc. I think that the color scheme should include metallic red to match the anodizing.

Gary,
I looked at the Mad Dog.Really a nice looker for the price and may go there if I can get used to the looks of the see thru covering.Never got off to the opaques.Do you know anyone that has one.'
I like the price for sure.
I wrote Kelsey at VMAR about that new Arror Tiger. It's $129 also and I told him I was really leary being so cheap.
If you know someone who has one give me a report. A 63 inch wingspan ain't bad either and would probably be just rite for that Jet.
Thanx Walt
