Personally I'd go for a Castle Phoenix 45 ESC. I love the flexibility that the CastleLink provides. I can program in the exact headspeed that I want and a whole bunch of other features. I've used the Align ESC's and they are ok. Never had an experience with the Scorpion ESC.

I have a Scorpion 35amp Commander, a 45amp Commander and a Castle Phoenix 35amp. While all are good ESC's, I don't think the Castle is worth the $85 dollar price tag. You can have the Scorpion 35amp for $55 and for $5 more, the 45amp. The Scorpions also come with a wireless infrared programming card which is pretty cool. If you want to access the advanced programming features of the Castle, you need your computer AND the USB programming link which costs an extra $23 dollars bringing the price up to $!08 dollars. These are prices listed at ReadyHeli. Alan

I have never had a problem with my Scorpion ESC's. I'm running Scorpion 2221-8 motors with both the 35 and 45 in T-Rex 450's. I have never used the governor mode on any of my ESC's. Just a flat 100% throttle curve. From what I have read here on the forums, most guys just run a flat curve instead of governor mode as they usually don't work very well. You don't have to run 100%, you could go something like 85% in normal, 90% in idle 1, and 100% in idle 2. By the way, I did smoke the Castle ESC once and they did replace it under warranty. Alan

Well i went with the scorpion 45a v2 it looks like the best value for money. there isn't really any hobby shop what sell good esc for heli in Australia.
will be upgrading my align 450x later hopefully the esc doesn't get as hot as my old one.
for a align 450x motor what setting should i run the esc at?

thanks!

The factory defaults should work just fine. You will want to make sure you have it in helicopter mode to get the soft start function. You can then set it for how long it takes to fully spool up. Make sure the brake is off and for the timing, use the auto setting. Alan

well i got my Scorpion esc and all i beening having is problems with it.
first had it running with my align 430x motor and it had problems spinning up. plus when i would be flying the motor would start glitching.

so i brought a scorpion motor ran that with my old esc ran perfect! change to the scorpion esc my it spins up fine but seem to be getting glitch still.

i'm going to try running it with out the IR receiver connected.

if anyone else has any ideas feel free to tell me.
i'm using a DX6i

i think i have found the problem its is the connecter on the IR receiver. when i riggly the esc cable when its plug it glitch or reset the esc.

so would it be ok to run without the IR receiver connected??
can you buy a new IR receiver?
don't know if i can bother with warrenty might get stuffed around

Isn't the IR receiver only on the esc when you are programing?
