This is by far one of the most enjoyable helicopters i have ever flown....
30 cells @ 36 volts
(3000 Nimh Sanyo) (dual 15 cell packs in series)
graupner 3300-7H motor
graupner power mos 60 amp/36 volt controller w/opto/brake
3 x 8231 digital servos on cyclic
gy 601 w/9251 on tail
jr 1800 mah sub c receiver pack
uni 60 electro mechanics
unistar trainer 60 pod and boom kit
graupner 688mm symetrical reflex main blades
the only upgrade is the aluminum swash from graupner
all up flying weight is about 10 1/2 - 11 lbs

after about 12 cycles on the batteries, i am now getting 8-9 minutes of full power flight

Hi zzmotorzz:

I LOVE IT!!!!!!

Looks very much like the .60 size Schluter Champion I have collecting dust in the basement workshop. Am presently training with a Corona, and I will be wanting to graduate to a machine like yours as a next Winter project.

Maybe with LiPo cells???

Any thoughts?

Happy Choptering,

Russ

thanks
if you decide to go with the graupner unit, and need any advice, then just let me know, they also have a 24 cell brushless version called the starlet 50 elektro, i think it cost about the same, but the benefit of the brushlessness

Hi again Zzmotorzz:

First, the electric thing is a whole new game for me, as with many others I would guess.

Second, there is very little bulletin board chatter about larger machines, as most folks are starting out with the micro and mini's where the cost is lower and, I suppose, most are kind of "scoping out" this new fangled electric "fad"!!.

I have a personal affinity for German / European crastsmanship and quality. My present Corona has a Hacker motor and ESC and my charger is a Schulze. I have read a lot about Graupner, but there doesn't seem to be alot of info out there about their products. As a matter of fact, I searched their website this morning for boat stuff, and mosst of the info was in German or French.

I have visited the Vario site, and I find it to be quite infomative and intuitive. I have also heard mixed reports about their service and inventory, although more positive than negative.

Who are you using for a supplier for Graupner stuff?

Motors & ESC ? ( I would go brushless from the get-go )

Also not particilarly interested in 3-D, more of a scale kind of flight, with 10 - 15 min duration.

Hope your 4th was happy and safe!

Thanks for the info, and

Happy and safe Choptering,

Russ
