She weighs in at 9 1/4 pounds. Her weak balsa sister weighs 8 1/4. Extra pound is in the wings. Fuse was actually lighter than the balsa one until I painted her.

I'm most impressed. I may just show these to a 4* nut in our chub who is as anti-spad as they come. "SPADS are OK I guess, but I wouldn't fly one" Thanks for sharing!

I do have plans, but I don't know how I would reproduce them. I simply measured, and drew out the profile of my balsa 4* by laying it on it's side and drawing around it.

The airfoil isn't the same as the 4*, but I sure tried like hell. I couldn't get the coro to bend as abrupt as it's balsa counterpart. However, I think I have it figured out now. 2 guys in our club want one now, (even before the test flight) and one guy is going to cut his own wing out of foam, but the other guy will go with all coro. So he will get the first of the cloned wing airfoil. Mine is more flat bottomed, which I think will be OK due to the increased weight of the thing. It should only make it more stable. I wonder how a 2 mil wing would work? I've never seen or felt 2 mil coro, but I assume it must be about half the weight of the 4 mil.

A flight report will follow as soon as the friggin' wind stops blowing up here in MT. The whole month of June has been 20 MPH days, calming down about 30 minutes before dark. And now it's spilling over into July.

Everything on this bird is identical to it's balsa sister. with two exceptions; it's airfoil, and I made my ailerons a constant chord verses the tapered ailerons on the original. I can't wait to get her in the air.

I wasn't sure how ChrisSpad did his turtledeck on his beautiful coro Cap, but this is how I did mine on the Cor-star. It proved to be very easy to do, and the taper factor was no problem after I shaved the flutes out like I did.

Great work Deadeye! Now find yourself some 2 mil and get it even closer to the same weight as your balsa 4*.

Your turtle deck is pretty much the same meathod I use on my 1/12 scale radial engine fighters. I just slit every other flute but don't remove the extra piece. For added strength I heat a piece of 2 mil and curve it then glue that inside, makes it rock solid.

If you ever get down this way, let me know. Maybe we can get together and do a little flying.

I'd love to find some 2 mil. Do you know of any coroplast dealers in Billings? Where do you get yours, Ben?
