Been flying heli for 2 years now. Lately it has been mostly FPV with Align helicopters. Bought E-Sky KOB's as x-mas presents for the kids but could not hold myself from trying them early. It could barely lift a micro spy cam weight 50g. So my FPV equipment will never be lifted. Wonder what possibilities there are for increasing power in these helicopters (very similar to Lama). Brushless? Maybe not since the ESC is integrated. Any other good ideas how to get the heli more agile etc? Sorry about the 'UAV' in the head line. A bit exaggerated.

Hey Nuckan,

The small Esky coaxials (of which I own seven) have limited lift.
What type of blades are you running? If they are the standard Esky ones, you will get more lift and durability from Xtreme blades. I recommend ordering the yellow blades for visibility - and don't forget to order both uppers and lowers..........
While you are at that HongKong site you might want to consider scrolling down within link and ordering stronger SE180 Bearing Motors.
In combination the Xtreme blades and Xtreme motors will generate more lift than you are getting now!

Peter
P.S. Here is a great US site if that is better for you.

Thanks. I'm gonna look into the upgrades. Also interested in the Big Lama which is also available in a version with brushless motors installed (www.rc711.com).

Hey again Nuckan,

I bought that exact one also! When you decide to buy the Ultimate, order Walkera 400D blades at the same time. They are slightly stiffer & longer blades and are a direct substitute! .
Remember that no BOL comes completely set-up with an extended shaft already installed (you must install that yourself)....

I own three BOLs. The BOL has heaps of lift for camera work - but the mounts have to be incredibly isolated from vibrations (one thing that I have not been able to achieve yet ) else you get the wavy lines that ruin your vidoes

Peter
P.S. I started uploading a video from my FCO2 on-board camera, but it is over six minutes long and not very good due to the vibrations

I did a lift test over the last few days on my brushless Lama V4.

I was able to lift 252 grams for an all up weight of 478.2 grams. I was able to hover at 6' with about 10% throttle left. This means that you can easily lift 50 grams on a brushless setup. This was on 3s 15c 900mah batteries. Obviously the more weight you add the less flight time you would get.

I also don't believe the hype about Xtreme blades having "more lift". The blades themselves weight up to 2 grams more a piece than most aftermarket blades.

The 8 grams of weight added isn't worth any placebo lift that might be perceived as being gained. The lift test with 252 grams added was done using cheap Chinese white blades.
