Hi All.

I'm brand new to electrics and have a question.

Can I use the 9.6 V 8 cell NiCd from my old Futaba transmitter to power my new GWS Slow Stick if I solder the proper connector on?

Also, the sticker on this Sanyo pack lists two charge rate- 15 hrs @ 60mA, and quick charging at 5Hrs @ 180mA. Is it a no-no to exceed the quick charge rate?

Thanks for the help.

I guess anything is possible but this is not advised. First off the old pack is very heavy. Second the pack is likely down on capacity and third the cells used were designed for low current.

I suggest to invest a few dollars and get a couple new packs of the right size and capacity from a e-flight vendor.

If your running your slow stick with the 300 motor from GWS,
then you should get 8 cell packs such as AAA 730 nimh's or,
you can try the KAN 950's on it. The Kans will be a little heavier
than the AAA's.

I would also advise against using a transmitter battery pack.

My favorite battery for the Slow Stick is the 8-cell, 5/4AAA, 800mAh, NiMH pack used on the Crazy Max from Wattage at Hobby People. It costs $33 and is often on sale. The pack weighs only 4.1oz with connector.

You can also buy them at Batteries America.

Good luck!
