G`day guys
I thought i had posted this her but it seems not.
I built these a little while ago and although they are shelf queens right now i`ve had a few other guys convince me that i really should finish the landie to full R/C status at least, the boat is not that far off ready to float so i might have to try and finish that too (in between other planned projects lol)
So heres a few pics of my landie and the ski boat starting with a few build pics

I reckon i`ll have to wait till da mad maori works out his super servo before i can get the steering to work
Cheers guys
Troppo

Well the boat was built from full size plans of a 50`s ski boat, dont know if it was a riva or not but i loved the look. They scream style and kinda suit the period look of the landie.
I`ll have to pull the body off the landie and rework the drivetrain and steering but i think its going to be a good thing, the boat will be a bit more work, got to get the rudder etc sorted. Already got the propshaft in place for a whippersnipper motor but no clutch in the design so its go or stop lol.
Gonna have to sort out the spare room as a work room cause the sheds too bloody hot these days.
Your work with the big servo is a godsend, i know nothing more than the very basics of electrickery.

Hehe.
This is the second forum in which you've started a thread about this build.

I think we're getting closer to seeing this awesome car moving?

Yeah mate, you and a couple of other guys have made me realise the work i put into it was wasted if i cant play with it. Just bought a flash (but cheap) radio, and i`ll be working on the pair of them alongside the other builds i have in planning or the works.
I have too many projects on the go at once, why do i do it to myself? lol

Because it would be too boring if they were all finished and there was nothing left to do.

You know of a glue that fixes aluminium to aluminium with a permenant bond? My C cab model T has stalled in a big way

an epoxy putty is is a fairly strong bond like "kneadit" or "quicksteel" but it is a thick putty

Sixaflex has a black (or grey) silicone addhesive that sticks very well

or if you get access to even a hand held gas torch, you could "braze" it together with durafix.... very easy to use requires very little heat so you dont run the risk of a big blob out

all of which can be got at Bunnings...

Very nice build!Seems easy to make the body too, pretty boxy car with some easy curves to make.Is the scale around 1/4th?And what wheels are you using? The original is a clever construction, heavy frame/chassi and light aluminium body that keeps the c.o.g. very low making it hard to roll over

I tried that Quiksteel stuff a couple of times.
It's a bit tricky to get it right as it's not a 2-part paste, but it sets really hard when done right.

I really wanted to get some of that JB weld but noone here sells it.

The headlights are the reflectors and bezels from a couple of $1 torches from the local cheap shop (always on the lookout lol), the indicators and parking lights are the dash lights from an escort.
The wheels are off a couple of supercheap auto hand trolleys (on special for $19) .
My landie has a steel ladder type chassis but it has steel rather than aluminium panels. I like to do these as a challenge, making or scrounging as much as possible and if i have to buy parts i really hate spending lol

I hear ya brother.
Loud and clear.

Not that I hate spending as such, but just haven't got that much available to spend on these things.
Necessity is the mother of all invention.

I see a lot of people up here (being a mining town) with way too much money.
Holden Maloo ute next to Monaro next to big boat in the driveway, 60 inch telly, jet ski etc etc.
I also see a lot of them for sale on the side of the road as people can't keep up with the repayments.
