    Status: offline     		I was woundering if anyone has a Flair DR1 manual they can copy or sale. My Dr1 is about 70% built and my manual is missing after moving. I called Radical RC which is the importer for Flair. They had no manuals and said they have problems getting parts from Flair. If I can't get a manual, I should be about finish it without a manual, but it would easier with a manual.

    if you want some hints on take offs and landings with this bird let me know. took me awhile but i finally got to where i was greasing landings with it

    Status: offline     		on and off the ground is the difficult part, this plane will do the fokker dance without hesitation! when it does happen chop throttle and dont even think about horsing it off the ground the results are not pretty
    #1 rule: always and i mean always take off and land directly into the wind, no crosswinds for this bird or you will ground loop.
    first off the best way for the take off run is hold full up elevator to keep the skid firmly on the ground until enough speed is reached that the tail will become effective, add throttle slowly but steady all the while keeping it straight with rudder, when speed is up a bit relax up elevator tail will come up at this point you may have to hold a bit of down to keep the plane on the ground until flying speed is attained when you have the speed add up elevator to rotate off the ground and climb out.
    on landing keep a bit of power on this plane slows fast with all the drag. never try to 3 point it, always do tail up landings. when you are over the end of the runway chop throttle but dont forget about it you will need it again! set her down at a slow flying speed with the tail up as you are slowing a few blips of throttle will keep the rudder and elevator effective. if she starts to nose over use throttle usally a blip or two will get the tail back down. let the tail come down on its own. keep on the rudder until it stops.
    i found if i follow this to the letter i can do picture perfect takeoffs and landings every time! and people always thought i was a fantastic pilot to never nose it over LOL

    I  too have just obtained a Flair DR1 kit and the build instructions were missing, if you still have the instructions I would be very gratfull if you could scan them for me (martinlee@hickorygardens.wanadoo.co.uk) What engine did you put in yours?

    can you read your instructions and tell me where the CofG is supposed to be.
    I have finished my DR1 but the instructions have beem filed away as I am in the middle of moving house.
    But you have to get your priorities right and I want to test fly the plane before moving.

    My email is martinlee@hickorygardens.wanadoo.co.uk.  Have you managed to conceal the servo wires from the top wing down the cabanes? If so I could do with some ideas. Also what engine have you chosen, I am still undecided, I have a OS 120 pump but I might go petrol if I can find an engine which will keep her under 7.5kg.

    Status: offline     		on mine i put the servo wires inside a piece of brass tube running down the left rear cabane. worked out well.
    on the gas engine i tried a 1.6 and it wasnt enough to fly it. this has a huge amount of drag. but i also weighed in at 17 lbs if i remember right. ended up with a supertigre 3000 and it was enough but no extra. if i was to do it again i would either set the firewall back enough for a g-38 or use a moki 2.10

    Status: offline     		I have for the test flight just fixed the wires down the outside surface of the rear struts, unless you look you cannot see them, small hole in the wing and a small tie wrap top and bottom, leads passing through the lower wing
    I have an RCV 1.30 in mine which hopefuly will be more then enough.
    I have the Flair Hannibal which is larger and heavier and this flies fine on a 1.20 four stroke.
    Will find out Friday morning when i test fly it, at least I have 250 metres of tarmac runway to take off from.

    Status: offline     		The CG from the Flair manual "nose down by about 3 degrees when it is supported at a point 65mm back from the leading edge of the middle wing."

    Status: offline     		Went to test fly the DR1, but the engine would not idle.
    it is an RCV 1.30 fs, whith only about 30 minutes running on it before it seized and rusted up inside. I only got it back from the manufacturer 4 days ago after extensive repairs which despite the engine having a 2 year warranty, suprisingly, everything that needed repalcement was not covered. One of the things I sent it back for was, it would not idle. And after a lot of money spent on it, it still does not idle.
    I will try again next weekend with different fuels and plugs, but considering it was supposed to have been test run after repair, the low end needle was so far in , no fuel at all passed through it.
