Say David, thats an awesome picture of two handsome Puerto Ricans...........LOL!!!!!!! Did'nt turn out that bad considering the chemo already made me lose my hair. I kind of like the new look. Hopefully not for ever LOL!

It certainly was a great pleasure to meet you. For sure next time I come up I'll need to bring the blue and yellow F-16 and do some formation.
Beautiful field with a view. Totally awesome!!!

Next time you in Houston make sure to give me a buzz. We can go hit Scobee and invite you for dinner at the house. You'll love the fresh Pasteles they sent from the Island.......

Thanks for the demo flight. Goooooooooodddd loooooooooooking jet bro.

Cheers,

Orlando

Toying around with cameras again. This was the only other jet at the field today but made for a good target to shoot at! D90 & 70-300 4.5 (auto everything)

BTW: for the local jet flyers, we had a field/club site improvement meeting yesterday with the officers, a lot of hopeful prospects - will address by email. Interestingly enough - a couple facts about our current field - 450' long, 40 - 30' wide. Didn't realize we were that small.
New runway dimensions are 480' x 40' as it stands now with built in expansion "key slots" in the slab

Thunderbird 2.0

Went out to the new field this evening. Field is oriented same as before, pits face east, runway north/south.
Here is a panning series north (left) to south (right). The new dimensions are 480 x 40. Perception-wise it seems wider and longer than Thunderbird 1.0 even though it is the same size (well, 30ft longer)

Look great. i'm ready for test flight and boundary verification. 800' is nice, 650' would be able to suit all categories of jets.

800' is ideal, 700' just about perfection, 600' would be great.
Another 20' wide would make a lot of pilots more comfortable as well.

I would rather start with Waco specs and come up short than start with 650' and come up short. We'll know when we've exhausted all resources and can take a look at what we can afford then.

David, yeah it is actually pretty much identical - the corp built a replica to trade us for the current place. The only difference is this one doesn't have a sweet view, is harder to get to and is 30' longer. It would be perfect though if I was a deer poucher.

I think a few great ammenities that we need to accomplish are: (regardless of the final length of runway)
1.) Make the transistion from pavement to grass as seamless as possible for the perimeter of the concrete
2.) On-site storage for CO2 & water fire extinguisher

Some shots from the North end of Thunderbird 1.0 for reference and some aerial shots of Tbird 2.0
Great job to mi Amigo for the test flight today - 1/31/10
Flight profile within boundries with NOTAM regarding swimming area to east and private property to South.
Adding a 100' or so to each end would be nice, but width is gonna be an issue too, I think. Maybe chasing nothin' here with all that drink at the North. Pic 2 of the new site shows the maximum pattern for healthy eyesight and a bobcat.
