Status: offline 		I have ran my Backdraft 8E with just a few upgrades all summer and was very impressed. I am going to build the Aftershock 8E to be a track performer. I will show pics from stock then each mod to show it doesnt take much to make either one of these very bashable and raceable. I will be adding 17mm hubs with knurled nuts, aluminum shocks (I like the looks of them as the stock performed just fine), front and rear sway bars, aluminum front and rear hubs, aluminum center steering link, 1/8th buggy wheels, JConcepts TRUTH body and diff oils changed. I will have pics from stock starting tomorrow and slowly through the weekend as I hope to have this completed by the end of the weekend.

Status: offline 		It is slightly close with with the 1/8 buggy wheels should be just fine. I hope anyway, will find out when the axles show up on Thursday. And also when the suspension compresses the wheels do draw in a bit. The stock tires are a little wider than the buggy wheels.

How come your using buggy wheels ?

There is a few of those aftershocks at the local track and they run pretty nice. I cant wait to see them and the slash 4x4 going at it in corr 4x4 mod class. Should be some good racing.

Status: offline 		Same diameter and less weight means quicker truck. The Slash trucks have also done this conversion and really works and also looks pretty cool. Also on the track the traction is awesome depending on the dirt or clay you are running on. Also the buggy wheels are larger in diameter with less sidewall (lower profile) so handling will be much better. The backspacing on the buggy wheel will also allow the wheel to sit in to allow the body to be lowered down for better lower center of gravity.

Status: offline 		Interesting about the wheels. i never thought about them weighing less

The local guys are using goosebump tires on the aftershock. But they are using the jconcepts wheels as well. I am not sure if they had to mod anything to get the wheels to work. But they look nice. 

 I have seen them run maybe 2-3 times.  And I have yet to see them break anything so they seem pretty durable.

Good luck on the upgrades and keep us up to date.

Status: offline 		Ok, here are some pics of the truck torn down to where I need it to be. Most of the parts on the right will not be used except the body mounts, bearings and diffs. I will change the diff oils out tomorrow (going with the sc10 track setup for starters on oils). The last pic is the tires and wheels nuts. Parts will be here tomorrow and Friday to complete it.

Status: offline 		I can't wait to see your paint job. I am upgrading mine for the track as well so your information was helpfull. I am keeping the original body but converted it to the actual Geiser Bros. edition SC truck driven by Jeff Geiser. I designed there logo a few years back and proposed the idea to Rick and Jeff Geiser and they liked the Idea. I would strongly urdge you to upgrade your servo and steering linkage if you plan on some steep multiple jumps (3 or more in a row) at you local track. I also have installed a heat shrink and cooling fan for the motor. Here are a couple of pictures you might want to see.

Nice looking Ram you have there MDST! Looks just like the real one. I hope to have everything completed by the end of the week, trying to work on it in between painting. Should have more pics up tonight.

Hey URC, I just tried the wheel nuts on my Backdraft and they work perfect. Mine are C22604 17mm PRO Wheels nut (2) for 17mm - thats what it says on the package top. Its says PRO in caps so maybe you may have tried another kind. Just thought I would let you know.

Status: offline 		I have a few sets here in my store and none have fit, Maybe Redcat changed the thread. They would start to spin on no problem but would then stop threading on and bind really tight. They will work on any normal 17mm hub for a car or truck, Just never was able to get them to thread on to the backdraft hubs. Is that what you are using, The BS17mm-Kit Hubs?

I also just received the 17mm kit from Redcat and the nuts work on them as well.

Status: offline 		They will.... but the tires on the stock Aftershock are larger and wider than the Slash. Either you can change out to slash tires and/or trim the wheel wells out more. The wheel base lines up great. I should have pics of this project done with body painted by Monday. The body I am mounting and is shown with is a Jconcepts Truth for the Slash.
