CEN Racing Matrix 5 gas Car´s are modified FS Racing Car´s.
Are they from CEN or from FS Racing ???
Perhaps, a little bit too expensive, i think.

Look - FS Buggy 4WD in Germany - it´s a good price, i think :

FS 4WD Buggy ready to run - sold by Conrad

FS Monstertruck 2WD ready to run with Tuning - Pipe - sold by Conrad

"The Cheapest" - FS Buggy 2WD without RC but with Tuningpipe - sold by Conrad

Conrad sold over 10.000 FS Car´s here in Germany and in Austria in only ONE year !!!

ha, SOOOO can't wait to race against one of these.

One thing I'd change right away... go to BAJA sized wheels. Many more wheels and tires to choose from. It might just entice others to buy a Cen 1/5 scale even more.

Who makes that engine? Doesn't look like a normal Chung Yang...

Here is one real review. I've own one for two weeks now and the throttle servo froze on the first run, having me to chase the car for like a mile. Steering servo is very jerky and went to CEN direct to buy another and it is not even available, then I send an email to CEN as they have a parts guarantee program and they don’t even answer, (most likely they ignored it).
no manual came on the box, no mention of what fluids are used through the buggy, it came with a set of tires/wheels different from what is advertise and they are already falling apart by themselves; not to mention CEN don’t even have a part number on CEN direct for them.
And off curse, nobody at CEN answers the emails as they know they don’t even have the parts and they don’t want to honor their word about the parts guarantee program.
I've should gone with the HPI baja SS.

That's no good sorry to hear you are having so much trouble with CEN and there product, as you probably know they are very similar to the FS and MCD so if ever there is anything you need shoot me an email or take a look under our FS parts 90% are compatible, certainly keep on CEN to make it right but worse case scenario you have options.

Thank You,
Scott

I have owned mine for 2 weeks as well now. The throttle servo is insanely strong, it can lock up the tires on pavement at 30 mph instantly. steering servo was fine, were you using an actual receiver pack like it recommends?

Got a manual, fluids don't bother me since I like to tune it already. Found the tires to be great on loose dirt, I have the MT version.
Definitely the most durable 5th scale I have ever seen after the beatings I give it regularly.

Tower will be selling it soon, so parts should be nor problem, haven't needed any though yet. Parts availability should pick up soon, and Tower is a great seller.

I really love mine and have been running it almost daily.

Yeah, they haven't got the spare parts in yet though. But I am sure it won't be too long.

Not a very impressive video....

I know the whole China language barrier, makes it difficult to make changes to a product, and R&D...is another story...

When you add up quality parts.. it quickly rises to 2000$..

The price is good for all the back yard bashers...
I for one would rather add my own electronics and save another 250$ off this car....

Again, that whole language barrier thing.... likely, too much work to do such a thing...

Not ripping on Cen. I just not that impressed so far...
Perhaps I need more vids of it running..??

ok, i bought an fs racing 2wd buggy, my first mistake. heres some pics of it, you tell me whats so different between this and the buggy on the first page of this thread. oh and this buggy was bought brand new for about 400.

i notice the stupid lexan cover for the gears is even chopped off at the bottom to clear the folded edge of the chassis. the front end of this buggy also sticks out past the front wheels, and sits about half the height of the wheel. the engine also says 30cc but i pulled it apart for cleaning after the airfilter let in a bunch of dirt and run the measurements and low and behold its only a 26cc. the gearing is also the correct gears for the monster truck tires, not the buggy tires, so it seems quick, only because its geared really low, and tops out very quickly. i have never owned the cen buggy, but it looks too similar to not say something.

i ended up changing the filter to the black one in the first pics, and fiberglassing the big hole in the bottom of the gear cover to keep it sealed. the rearend gears started skipping untill i put some serious screws in the rear diff housing to actually hold it together. the only good things i've seen on this buggy are that the gears are all steel (the main ones were allready showing wear in about 5 tanks) and the computer 3ch radio it came with.

For the steel gears, your best bet is to get the MCD steel gears. The FS ones are not made of the same quality hardened steel gears found on MCDs.
The MCD gears should significantly reduce your gear wearing problems.

just an update to this post. I saw these 1/5th scale cars selling for 549 on ebay with 40 dollars shipping. I decided to buy one. I ordered the matrix 5 -mt.
Before I commit to keeping it, I will examine it carefully before I run it. If it looks too cheesy, I'll send it back. $549 seems pretty reasonable as long as I can upgrade the car properly. I will be looking for some help from the vendors here on the forum. I'll keep you posted.
regards
Scott
