hey all, been sharing a charger since i recently got into the hobby, and was wondering if some of you guys/girls could recommend a good one that isnt too pricey...the one im sharing is a Dynamite Prophet Plus....seems to be pretty good, but for some reason seems to not fully charge packs at times and at times over charge...possibly the operators not the charger LOL, not tryin to knock it. anyway time to purchase a charger of my own and really cant afford a whole lot for one like the triton or anything, but want to get a pretty decent one that i can work with for awhile or should i just realize i cant expect much for 50 or 60 dollars? thanks in advance to anyone with advice, Jason

I don't have a charger yet but the one I have used was a hanger9 double vision it is a fast charger not for sure if you were looking for a fast charger or not. It does flash when it is done charging, I am planning on getting this one soon, hope this helps.

AirJake74,

I have been using an MRC 959 SuperBrain for the last 10 months.

Aside from an occasional "fast peak", "slow peak", or "voltage spike" warning (which happen when charging depleted packs), I get about 98% "normal charge" indications.

For only $47 at Tower, this charger is an unbelievably good investment.

Sincerely,

Save your green stamps and get an Orbit charger. Easy to use and will charge practically everything.

That is, if you can find one

If you want a field charger forget the Superbrain 959, the Hobbico MKII is a MUCH better value. The MKII does two packs at once and works flawlessly, I use it from the 12V batt in my field box even at home. I have both chargers, don't waste your money on the superbrain unless you need an AC charger or need to charge above 2 amps.

Both chargers are approx $50

I was looking for a reco on a charger as well. I only need a bench top unit that will use standard 110v current. Will the 959 fit the bill and charge 6v recievers and 7.4 sticks? If not can someone point me in the direction of what I may need?

Avalanche,

The SuperBrain 959 will charge 3-8 cell packs and single (glow starter) pack, Ni-Cd, or Ni-MH. It can be connected to AC, or 12VDC.

Avalanche,

The Super Brain 959 comes with an integral AC cord and plug, for 110VAC. There are also plus and minus cords with crocodile clips, to connect the device to an auto battery.

If you want to run it on 230VAC, like in foreign countries, you would need a transformer/voltage converter.

If you want to have the possibility to charge your glow driver, you will have to request the free 1 cell charge cord.

If you want to safely and conveniently charge your receiver and transmitter batteries, I would advise you to make charging cords.
Solder and shrink insulate the connections, to prevent short circuiting.

You will need a corresponding Tamiya plug at one end (to connect to the 959 output cord) and an Rx/Tx charge plug at the other.

VERIFY CORRECT POLARITY WHEN MAKING THEM. WHEN CHARGING, PLUS CONNECTS TO PLUS, MINUS TO MINUS.

If your transmitter has a diode, you will have to "jumper" it, for the device to function.

See diode sheets:

Tfacr, do a search in this forum for Celltek. These are 6V chargers that work very well and are $7 each. Available from the Electronic Goldmine.

Craig.

Here: I did it for you, see this thread:
