Just as a side note....I think they had a sale of rivets when designing and building the T-28....

Truer words were never spoken just the top and bottom of one flap took 1210 rivets on my T-28.

Dean,
So let me get this straight.... 2 flaps equal 2,420 rivets and probably 3,000 + for the ailerons... not to mention the wings and fuse...yikes
Maybe I should just spend all my time at PIMA counting the rivets on their Trojan...LOL
I will let you know what day as it gets closer to my arrival, need to coordinate with my grandkids (u know how that is)
I'm working on the landing light and since I'm not using the inside of a maglite I'm having a little mental issue to get it to look good when it extemnds from the wing... but who siaid this hobby was easy when you build instead of buying an ARF.
Hope the weather has been good for flyinmg

Larry

Hi Gang,
Back to realithy, 8 hours in 4 different gas lines to get gas yesterday and 1 hour today but got both cars full tanks
Dean, sorry we couldn't hook up, my trip to PIMA was a last minute thing, maybe next time, but I did find out they are still doing tours of the boneyard.
Her's a shot of the landing light and some shots of the Trojan at PIMA, hope to get back to the build this work as long as the next storm doesn't knock out our power
Larry

Larry,

Thanks for the shots.  How much damage did you sustain with Sandy?

Hope all is going well.

Hi Larry, Too bad we didn't connect. It looks like the T-28 at Pima has had a new paint job since I was there last looks great. Hope you and yours who weathered Sandy's winds are OK. I should have some Images of My T-28 Completed without the markings soon.

Yat,
Nice work, especially all the decals. Dean, Boyd, do either of you have a shot of the flaps in the down position, I'm trying to wrap my head around the hangers and how they work.
Almost have the landing light brass done, just need to make one more bend and then trail fit with the hinge

Here's a couple of more shots

Just remember the answer to this question we sheet metal guys asked each other.

Question:

How many rivets does it take to finish an airplane ?

Answer is: 1

Good looking aircraft everyone. I am putting the pressure on Boyd every chance I get. Until he finishes, I do not have a Dave Platt T-28 to fly.

Excellent work.  I did not put as many rivets on my T-28.  Just enough to give it looks.  I'll post some pix's once I get the second primar coat on.

Boyd.

Hey guys,
Finally started the Flaps, but I have a really dumb question. Did you guys shape the LE before notching out the LE for the flap hinges or after...
Hoping to have both flaps built by Sunday afternoon and then start the ailerons......

Later

Boyd,
I take it you epoxied the hinges in to the flap after you shaped it? Having a really bad senior moment here...

Thanks

Dean,
Stupendous, superlative, absolutely stunning... needle point is looking better all the time... can't wait to get to AZ so I can see it in person.
Avenger start to tomorrow... finally
Working on the 2nd flap, should have done this afternoon, though I'm trying to see how the inboard edges look when they get sanded to the fuse shape...

Dean, lots of luck on the maiden, winds are starting to pick up here, looks like it's not going to be many more weekends of flying, predicting gusts of up to 25mph tomorrow at the field (which is right against the bay)

Boyd, how are you and Noah fairing, guessing fabuously

Thanks Casey and Larry. Larry and Boyd if you are going to install a dummy engine in your models there is an excellent build thread here in RC Scale aircraft. Resin RADIAL ENGINE Build, the dummy engine can be purchased at Frank Tiano's site.

Dean,

Beautiful work.  What is the power plant you are using?  How did you get the canopy to slide back in the angled position like the real one?

Larry,

Noah's been out flying more than I have.  I've been back in the shop trying to get some more planes in the air.  I need to finish the T-28.  Dean's an inspiration.

Boyd.
