I haven't heard too many negatives about them. They look pretty fragile to me, but apparently not. I haven't had a chance to take mine out of the box yet, so I don't have any firsthand experience yet. But, make sure you get a wheelie bar! Otherwise, you'll trash the dually pipe due to wheelies.

On quite the contrary of the above, I have heard many negative things about them. The only solid thing I would promote on this truck, is the motor.....the 24.7 is a great motor, that many people put in their Savage's and MAXX's......other than that, hopups are scarce, parts are tough to find locally, and they are no the best built truck around....I'm not starting a flame war here, but really....there is better out there! The motor is good however!

Where are these negative threads?
Hobby People has all kinds of hop-ups coming out now. As far as availability, it depends where you live. My local shops have the basic stuff...
I'm not saying I love this truck, and as I said, I haven't even ran mine yet, but the feedback I've heard until this point has been mostly positive. And, if we're going to start talking about build quality and parts breakage, look no futher than the worst truck out there (and yet the most popular)...the T Maxx.

personaly i think the x factor is a rip for the money its very tipy beacause it doesnt have wreal independant suspension and 35mph is slow for a .21 and how great they said it was belive the guy that had a tmaxx it will wast an x facter any day and its cheaper

The X Factor is NOT a race truck. It's a basher. Of course, the T Maxx will beat it in a stock-to-stock race any day... If you're looking for something to race, get a buggy.
And, it has amazing articulation...the best of any nitro truck currently available.
Again, I'm not saying it's the ultimate truck. It's unique, and from what I've heard, a LOT of fun to drive.

well guys, i have an x-factor and i love it, shure the t-maxx can stomp it in a race but if you go out rock crawling the maxx will just get squashed by the x factor, oh and it is definitally not fast for a .21 because its not a .21, its a .24 and its not geared for speed, its geared for torque. i have one it is the moast wicked nitro crawler i have ever incountered!!!!! stock can flex on a gallon of gas with ease! parts arnet that scarse, if you can do biseness here you can just got to towerhobbies.com and find every thing you need! a true monster truck is not about speed, its about going places. you want off road speed get a buggy or a statium truck, leave the monster trucks for what thay are truly for. if you chain a t-maxx and an x-factor together from the back the x-factor will pull the maxx all over the place!!

I have a X-Factor and a few things.

First the talk about it being unstable is a myth. I've driven a Savage and owned a Tmax and it's just not true. The truck looks top heavy and I think this is where the idea comes from. But because the design puts alot of weight down low (solid axles and a transmission and center diff that sits below the chassis) theyre more stable than you might think to look at them. I can run mine at around 30mph and crank the wheel over and it doesnt flip.

As for the top speed being 35mph... I dont know who told you that but they were full of it. In a flat out race for top speed it's damn close to my buggy which did 48mph on radar. I'd guess it around 42-44mph. It's possible the tranny wasnt shifting into 2nd or something. Some people who bought it early on had that problem. Was just a matter of adjustment or alignment in the tranny.

It's not a great handler. It's not built to be. It doesnt jump well out of the box and tends to get unstable at high speeds. Yes a Tmaxx will beat it on the track. It's a heck of a lot of fun tho. The articulation is wild and can be made even better if you want to tinker with it.

As for mods... Check out RC Car's last edition. They had some nice mods and honestly the guy doing the article didnt go half as far with it as he could have. According to a little blurb in there XTM is releasing a heavily modded version soon to.

There is only one durability issue I've had to contend with and it's a simple thing to fix ( I just need to do it) There are 4 small bolts that take the brunt of the force from any impact on the suspension. 2 in front and 2 in back. Theyre a 3mm by 20mm hardened screw. XTM needs to change the design to a larger screw. It can be done on your own easily enough. I've just been too busy messing with my Buggies.

Isn't it straight axled? That is good for rock crawling..... but I kind of have my doubts of it's crawling ability.

In RL trucks they use the same design for crawling.

Independant suspensions are preferable for faster driving where you need fast response from the suspension. It's lighter and quicker to respond. But when youre going over off camber large objects the wheels cant keep contact with the ground.

A straight axle is the same design used in Clod Busters and TXT-1's and they can go over almost anything. As long as you keep a wheel on the highest point on any object youre climbing the articulation will allow at least 2 other wheels to stay planted (within reason).
