2 x 8911 on elev
1 x 8911 on rudder
2 x 8911 on flaps
2 x 8411 on ailerons
2 x DES707 on main gear doors
1 x DES707 on nose steering
Powerbox Cockpit SRS
Powerbox iGyro
2 x Double action Jetronic Valves (one for mains, one for nose leg)
1 x Jetronic zero loss brake valve

Status: offline 		..........and an even better one, I think, that which is going into my Skygate Hawk :
Ailerons JR MP80T brushless.
Stabs JR 6311 HV,
Flaps JR 6301
All controlled from a Weatronics 12-22 gyro 111 plus GPS which allows extreme accuracy in set up and full system analysis. !!
Plus an Intairco integrated Dual gear valve with speed regulators plus my own design emergency gear extension system (see next RCJI) giving you a second chance to get the gear down in the event of an air leak (ala MacD Phantom and BAC Jet Provost !)

That said, I am sure the PB Cockpit or competition plus an iGyro ( a rather more capable gyro system than the Wea gyros which are also very good) is also a really excellent set up, currently evaluating just such a system in a Reaction.

Status: offline 		So, my Hawk has just been painted by my friend Kasper Holger (CarbonsCustoms here on RCU).
He did a wonderful job, although I have not seen it in real life yet, but should get my hands on it in less than a week.
He sent some pics of the plane during the process, hope you like it (paint masks etc etc from Ralle/Tailormadedecals)

I'm really looking forward to get it in the air, probably with shaking legs
Any "last minute" recommandations regarding CG, throws, and maybe elevator compensation with the two flap positions ?
Also, the new spring update to the main oleos, do you just removed the spring in there, and substitute with the new stuff or (got mine a few days back, and havn't looked at it in detail yet...) ?

I fly mine on high rate elevator and aileron with a lot of throw. I use low rate on rudder as it is very effective. . I will get you my throw.
If you can't hold nose in the air after touchdown until you stop then starting pushing weight back.
I can't for the life of me remember if I have any elevator trim mixed with flaps. I will check when i get home in a few hrs. I don't think I do though.
The new spring stuff looks like a complete replacement for the old. It looks like an adjuster and some springs. I think the thing to do would to be to pull out old stuff and replace with new and make ready the jet full of fuel. Then simulate compression manually and see if it bottoms out to the strut cover. If so then dismantle and extend the adjuster out necessary length. Also the jet shouldnt sag in back when just sitting. Watching the video of factory hawk 100 is a good example of what its not suppossed to look like. That was even with smaller motor.
I don't have mine yet but it looks like the adjuster goes in then the springs on top. Basically what I have done to mine using the dowel stop.
I follow up when I get home.

Status: offline 		what Mister Green is saying, is that hees HOPING to get his hawk back this thursday, but im not sure i will give it back, afterall it is totally fitted, and my TX matches his, so its just to fuel it and fly - i even stole his model setup from the TX and copied to my own when he wassent looking... [:p]

A little something about the Thawk hawk...

i think its a pitty that the rivets is so tiny on the surface on the model, after the clearcoat they are almost gone. I know the rivets are perfect scale (as everything else on the model) but the paint thickness is not 1/3,5, i think the details should have been a bit exaggeratedl like on a skymaster model and so on.


but this is the only thing. this bird is really the lamborghini of RC jets, everything is just SO good quality.

Im proud of the model, and that Carsten trusted me his Hawk, afterall if i did a terrible job, then the model would be wrecked, because, if it should need a new paintjob, it would gain an extra 1kg of paint (and go over 25kg) and loose all of the surface details because of the sanding.

And i so not want to be the person to wreck a 10000€ kit ;-)

i look forward to make the next kickass jet, the Thawk F5

most of the spars in the model is made of 8mm think herex with 49g cloth on both sides, its VERY light and stronger than the light plywood normally used.

Status: offline 		My elevator throws about 6cm up and down from center. Ill check ailerons next.
No mix trim on elevator when flaps deployed at either setting.
I still cant believe how fast you finished yours!

@Scott,
all inputs are more than welcome
(the 6cm throw on elevator, is that measured at leading or trailing edge ?)
I assume that neutral is when the trailing edge is on the dividing line of the elevator cover ?

I have put the CG in the middle of the two numbers given by Tomahawk on the CD (between 310 and 325 mm), hope that will be ok...
It took more or less exactlly two months to finish it for painting, and yes, I have been quite busy with it, but if this thread hadn't existed, or if I had not had all the super help from you guys, it would not have been possible (at all!). So a big thank you all
The last week before Kasper got the plane for painting, he was staying here at my house for 4 days, and he helped A LOT (50 hours or so) to make the canopy/cockpit, which was a lot of work, and some things had to be figured out along the build. Luckily Kasper is a real pro builder (as well as a super painter and pilot), so I did get a lot of help with that!

@MarcS: It's your small gadgets that puts the extra touch on the install, all these little things that you perhaps could do without, but using them makes it soooo much more nice and easy !!
