Status: online 		you can do a couple of things. air will work with a cylinder. probably use a bvm button to use to close.
I made mine mechanical using a tow wire from strut.

it´s been a while - but i achieved some little progress!

As Craig has convinced me to do a top hatch for easy access, i tryed to do a good job.
I have tryed to do it as light but yet strong enough to withstand future combat training flights.

As pictures tell more then words, i will just enclose a few pictures. If someone has a question to it, just drop me a line.

Just for information, complete gained weight of top hatch and framing = + 120 gram.

The i have receid my landing gear back from Peter Cmyral of Austria who converted my landing gear to electric function and breaking.
I have enclosed a few pictures as well.

One more week of work then i am off for holiday, i should make bigger progress during that time.

Thanks to Thomas' (alpenglider) recommendation I also have had my gear converted to electric in Austria. Very simple system and great quality. I now have no air in my Hawk - mission accomplished.

Status: offline 		Roy - 800 euro for the conversion which includes the brakes. Then freight costs on top. No web address - private guy in Austria doing the conversions.


Includes conversions and control unit. The control unit has a built in failsafe so it remembers the last position of the gear switch. (ie: it wont work until the gear switch is in the same position as when turned off) I also purchased a Projet door sequencer which has a built in false safe link. I had hoped to run the sequencer through a PB Cockpit but will see how this comes together upon setup. I'm not sure the cockpit can delivery a failsafe for the doors.

Other than that quality workmanship with a simple setup. Runs on a 3S lipo for at least 50 cycles... So 1 charge for a weekend and forget about your gear. I tried it on a LiFe as I feel happy the charging in the model and it slows the retraction down by maybe 1-1.5 seconds.

Brakes are pretty amazing - totally proportional. They run on a Y lead or can be run on two channels independently.

Status: offline 		Here are a few 'in production' pictures of the GBRJET Electro-Brake units for the Tomahawk 1:3.5 Hawk being made for 5 customer Hawks.

Our design is derived from the full size Hawk brake hub and replaces the plastic moulded parts supplied with the kits and the air driven brake parts to give a realistic 'semi' scale appearance. The hub and 4 caliper pots uses the lower leg as an anchor device and below this hub we will fit the friction plate which is shortly going to be machined. Once done this will sit under the 'hub' and provide the proportional braking (either continual or pulsed) link to the wheel.

Wires are designed to exit the hub under the gear lower leg, as this is already rebated by the factory it will allow the wires to be totally concealed.

I will post more pictures of the fully assembled unit shortly.

Status: offline 		This is the Joe Grice technique for a seamless hatch. Used 2 layers of 6 oz cloth (try to criss cross the grains a little) carbon fiber cloth that is layered in with epoxy resin. Then framed (middle width of basswood where zona saw will cut through) the inside with 1 inch basswood (I think 3/16 inch ) after notching out the basswood where the offset hinges go. After the glue dries on the basswood then glued in the offset hinges.Then cut out hatch with zona saw and rest of work is some sanding , body filler and primer with more sanding. I used a detail for scale latch mechanism.
