I built a kittiwake from the original run of kits. It was my first water plane so I may plead inexperience, but it was REALLY squirrelly taking off. I think the sharp-edged float had 'way too much keel effect, and if I touched the rudder at all on takeoff, it would trip, dig a tip float in, and cartwheel. The aluminum supplied for the Float Struts was soft, and had to be rebent after every non-optimal landing. I finally got a Wing Wfg foam wing for it, left off the tip floats, and was able to get airborne carefully. OTOH, on wheels, the KW Flew like a KAOS, and would snaproll quicker than anything I ever saw. Ken Willard designed a great little sport plane. You have plenty of motor. I had an OS .20 FP and the plane was FAST! Good Luck
