ysrcflyer -> CG superchipmunk (5/6/2002 7:52:48 PM)

If you don't do anything else to this plane, Beef up the landing gear. The first flight with my chippy ended with both wheel pants (& landing gear) sticking up thru the wing covering! Learned the hard way to reineforce the landing gear blocks. By the way, like every one else said: It is one sweet flying plane! I have a Y.S. 61LS with a 13-8 apc. Plenty of power for all maneuvers. It is neat to go into the EAA Oshkosh Museum and see the original hanging upside down in the aerobatic section.

FIVESQUARE -> Elevator throw (4/30/2002 10:36:53 PM)

Someone was asking me why it snapped when full up was applied (on another forum) The throw should be set to a bare minium on your elevator.....I discovered that and changed my high rate to the low rate....I changed the low rate to Naw, it would get off the ground. Good Luck Doc

jack01 -> goldberg superchipmunk control throws? (4/19/2002 9:13:32 PM)

What Chipmunk? A guy in my club has one. If yours are the same, then I'll email him.

FIVESQUARE -> Super Chippy (4/21/2002 6:23:25 PM)

Mine has a Saito 100. On low rate my throws are approx 1/3 inch....High rate maybe 5/8. Flaps 60 degrees W/ 5 degree down elevator when activated. Really not a lot of throw is needed...I fly low rate most of the time. Flaps slow it down to a crawl w/ a little power applied "Sweet" Make sure your wheels extend just beyond leading edge...It will make ground handling easier. My cg is right at spar. It will get a little cranky on take off if you try to "horse it" off....To me takeoffs are more difficult than landing this puppy.\ Good Luck, DOC

FIVESQUARE -> FCC Chippy (4/22/2002 8:32:30 PM)

FCC, I really do not know anymore to tell you about the chippy..(see post 3 or 4 ) prior to yours. You will fall in love with this airplane. The landing gear will need "beefing" up. It appears to be the weakest point on the craft. Watch for too much throw...and have fun. BTW...Good engine choice. It should scream. Good Luck, DOC

FIVESQUARE -> Chippy (4/25/2002 10:39:15 AM)

Superchip, Glad it went ok for you ...Sorry about your engine. May I STRONGLY suggest a Saito 100. A pair made in heaven. Good Luck, Doc

You might consider moving the firewall back. OR, if it wont look goofy, you could move the cowling up some. If it has to go up too far, then you could just make an extention of the side of the plane with balsa and covering to seal the gap.
