When filling the start gas bottle with powermax, how much do you put it? Do you wait for the pressure to equalize or will just a little do the trick. Thanks Russ Simjet 1200AES

Russ

Look in the post regarding "Wet Start" I believe Kevin has answered this question for you already.

He uses a clear line from the power max and gives a 3 second burst from the trigger valve. You can see after 3 seconds that the fuel stops flowing. The pressure inside the onboard tank equalizes to the pressure in the power max can.

Hope this is what you are looking for.

Gary

I have a 1200 AES. It took me a few starts to learn the trick, but I pull the trigger on the Powermax and count to 4 (1001, 1002, 1003,1004) and release. Keep the propane tank as verticl as possible and it may require you to jiggle it a little bit if you tank sitting for a while before you start up. I mounted my tank with Velcro and when I that way I can reach down and jiggle it slightly if I need to. It starts everytime for me now with the onbaord tank, It took me a few times to get it right.

Yes! that is what i did, held the trigger untill i no longer saw the bubbles going into the bottle. I was just wondering if i was using too much. The engine started fine on the first try. Thanks Russ

Russ,

I've found that you don't generally need to continue adding PowerMax until the pressure equalizes. I like to try to use just enough for one start, and I've found that a ~3 sec burst usually does the trick.
