Warbirds over Tulsa, Sep. 11th & 12th
I'm starting a thread for our warbird show in Tulsa, OK. Sep. 11th and 12th 2010. I am the CD and this is the first annual show. We are going to have it at Tulsa Glue Dobbers field on Lynn Lane and 28th street on the east side of Tulsa. The website for our club is www.tulsagluedobbers.com. We will have info on the website soon I hope and I will answer any questions you have on here. We are going to limit the show to any type and any era of warbird. We have an asphaut runway that is 400 feet long and 50 feet wide. We also have a grass runway mowed down next to the asphault. $15 landing fee and pilot lunch will be provided with registration. Thanks.

Chris,
I plan on being there, and I have told several others about it. They plan on attending also. Look forward to seeing you at WARBIRDS OVER OKLAHOMA 2010 at El Reno, OK Regional Airport. Visit our web-site at www.warbirdsoverok.org and send me your Warbird event flyer and I will get it posted to the site. Currently we have the Glue Dobbers link there. See you in Tulsa next week.
I will be sporting the Oklahoma Museum Of Flying's SkyMaster L-39 along with some of my other War Birds with my little flying buddy.
We also started a Military & Vintage Aircraft SIG in Oklahoma. Visit this web-site at http://www.mvaaok.org/ and contact the web-master to post your event information here too.
VIEW: Check out the L-39 Flight video at http://rcuvideos.com/video/Skymaster-L-39-Flight
Chris, Your event is now on the MVAA web-site: http://www.mvaaok.org/events.htm

Chris...
Probably be a crew from the OK Sooner Squadron making a showing. We just need to get Ray to empty his garage and that would be a Warbird festival all by itself. Only trouble... we would need a Mayflower moving van to get it ALL to one location. Hopefully he will bring his newest Warbird... canary yellow Texan with 126" WS, 3W 200 under the cowl. She's a beaut..!! But then everything he has are beauts.
Been to the "Heatwave" 3 times... and a Warbird only sounds like a GREAT idea. As far as I'm concerned... make'em ALL Warbird Fly-In's. And many THANKS for putting this one on. I love it... TWO Warbirds in my state..!!! Hope this becomes a 'standard' for you guys.
Later... I'll keep checking this thread...

Yes, we hope it will be a yearly thing. It all depends on the participation. Glad you enjoy our heatwave, it is a great event. It has pretty much turned into a 3D event and a lot of the warbird guys have quit coming, so we just decided to add another event and double the yearly fun. Bring as much stuff as you can haul and we'll have a great time. We will see you guys at El Reno in May and just have a little break in the action till September!

Warbirds Over Tulsa,
Do you have a pdf copy of your Warbirds Over Tulsa flyer? I want to post it on my Warbirds Over Oklahoma web-site.
Here is the flyer for our event on May 14-16, 2010.
Be sure to go to the site with the link below and vote for the WWII plane you like the best.
The next site poll will be a list of WWI aircraft.

Chris,
You are off to a good start, and I will help on this end all I can.
I really like those planes. A friend, Dave is cutting me some parts for a DR-1 Balsa USA. He is building a new on for the warbirds and cutting me parts as he goes. Can't wait to have a big one. Here is my Great Planes DR-1. I use it for the Snoopy dog fight show.
Dave is starting his Balsa DR-1 at WB2009, but he wanted a new one. The Newport belongs to Dave's son Kevin.

I have a great planes DR. 1 also. It has a Saito 100 for power. It rolls about a foot before becoming airborne! The only problem is the tip-over on landing! Oh well, even the real ones did that!

And I have a Great Planes DR.l as well. With a OS 91 FS pumped. Haven't even tried to start it yet. Been cobblin' it back into shape. Did a little horse trading for it in late Fall at a TORKS swap meet... and just been to lazy to get it completed. If I ever get it squared away... maybe Mike (hobby shop Mike) would get his out... and we do a four DR.l flyby in 2010. Or... you guys do the flyby... and I'll just hold mine over my head and run up and down the flight line.

Hello everyone,
I have an event flyer for the non-rc public. Please send out to anyone who might want to attend our event.
Also is the event flyer for the RC world.
I also have a shot of me sitting on the side of the road. Why lie, I want a round motor!

Yes I had heard they were going to have one too. Turf flyers have a great field and the guys there are great. Hope you can make all three shows. I will find out more about their show and post it here. There are a lot of scale jets that fly there, Eurosport, Skymaster F-4, a couple Skymaster F-16's and one of the guys had an F-18 but I'm not sure that one is still around. I'm not sure about WWII stuff, but I know the guys from Muskogee and Sallisaw will be there with a lot of big Warbirds. Their website can be found by searching for American Turf Flyers, but there is nothing on their site right now about the show. The guys from Gluedobbers (My home field) will be there too.

I just found the Dist. VIII had it on their online calendar yesterday. I will definately be shooting for making all 3 of the events. Especially when they are in your own state...!!! While I like most events I get to attend during any given flying season... Warbirds are always my favorite.
Speaking of Muskogee (TRAMPS)... their website has been dead in the water for about a month now. You have any friends in TRAMPS you can contact and find out if somebody just forgot to re-new the server space or domain for 2010... or did they change the URL... or did they just let it go...??? I hope it is the former... they were always good to post event info I sent them for the OK Sooner Squadron events for the last 4 years.

I just e-mailed our officers last night about Turfs show and we got a reply today with a flyer attachment but they aren't sure of the date yet. The flyer says June 12th but the District 8 site says the 26th. I will make some inquiries and put more info up when I know more. I don't know anyone from TRAMPS but I will try to find out what's up from some of our people who know those guys.

Spritch,
I got in touch with the CD for the Broken Arrow show and asked him for a flyer to post on here. Looks like it's going to be a one day show and they are raising money for Blue Star Mothers. I will post more info as I get it.

Chris...
Thanks.... I had gone back and re-read the Dist VIII online calendar and saw where the Turf Flyer's 'Warbirds over Green Country' were going to donate all proceeds to the Blue Star Mothers. I hate to admit it... but I had to go and do a little research on just who they were...?? After a little reading and realizing what this organization stands for... I co-linked it with all the Turf Flyers links that I had posted at OK Sooner Squadron and at the MVAA website so other visitors can find out, or re-learn about this worthy organization.
Just as soon as I educated myself about the Blue Star Mothers... that scene in 'Saving Pvt. Ryan' came flooding back in my memory. The one where the Mom was washing dishes as the Army sedan came down the dirt road to their farm while she was gazing out the kitchen sink window... to let her know two of her three sons had paid the price at Normandy. That banner of three stars in her window said it all.
Revision...
Dug out my copy of "Saving Pvt. Ryan" last night and plugged it in... she had lost 3 sons...!!! Even if it was only a Hollywood made-up story line... it's still something that's difficult to get your mind around. You spend 18/20+ years raising them... then 3 of them gone in one morning / afternoon. I'm sure some families paid even more.

HI Guys,
Yes we will be hosting our first ever Warbirds Over Green Country event on June 26, 2010. The event is being co-sponsored by the "TRAMPS" of Muskogee, Oklahoma. And as Chris and others have mentioned we are going to make it a charity event benifiting the Blue Star Mothers, Chapter 5 or Broken Arrow, Okla. They are a great organization who provide care packages to our troops all over the world. We have our Flyer complete but want to meet one more time with the Blue Star Mothers organization before we publish the flyer. We should be able to publish that flyer in a week or so.
This should be a fun summer with three Oklahoma Warbird events. I know I for one plan on attending the events in El Reno and at Glue Dobbers and welcome all to come to American Turf Flyers/TRAMPS Warbird Fly In and help support the Blue Star Mothers and our troops.

Thanks Ken for giving us some info on your show. How's the Flash coming? Is it in military colors? If so are you planning on flying it at the warbird shows?
