Hey Stan, really getting itchy for this event. Looking for a really good turnout. Hopefully the weather cooperates and we have a great time! My Fokker DVII is ready and I'm going to try to get the Sopwith Tripe up too (if the wind will lay down a bit). I have decided it has to fly, crash or get sold. She takes up too much room in the shop to just be a hanger queen! Then after the this event, I'll be starting on my Vailly Aviation 1/5 scale Hawker Hurricane. You can find a map to our field at our web page here. Click the address at the top of the page.

cgage5,

Did you say you have a paved runway? If so, how long is it?

We are putting the finishing touches on our first Warbirds over Tulsa event and are looking forward to a great time. I've been getting calls from all the surrounding states so we should have a great turnout.

Chris...

Until Clyde gets back on here with the actual field details... I can tell you they have a paved strip and a parallel grass strip all well maintained. It's a really nice field and they keep it in great condition... just not sure what the paved strip length is...???

12 days and counting...

Thanks Stan. I'm thinking of taking my Boomerang up there this weekend and having never seen the field was wondering what it looks like.

Hey Chris, We do have 40X300 paved with grss runoff at each end. we keep the grass short so it easy to takeoff and land on the grass runway, also. Gerry Hinshaw from Lathrop, ks. may come with his Troy Built Jets. He was here last year.

I'm not going to be able to make it but David and Cindy Seals are coming. I'm not sure who else from Dobbers will be there but I'm sure there will be a few. I wish I could come and meet Gerry, I have spoke to him on the phone about the DV8R and Shokjet and would love to see them fly.

Our shirts for the Warbird show came today and I think everyone will like them. Setting up a show is a lot of work especially when it's the first year! It is coming together very nicely. We are going to have Buddy there with his B.B.Q. and his ribs are excellent! We have some prizes from Troy Built R/C and from some of the local hobby shops. Everyone is welcome to come Friday for open flying.

I'm getting ready to go to the field and I'm sorry you are not coming. It's going to be a great day to fly. Tim is going to make a fast pass down the runway today with his RV. I know everyone will like that. I'll see at warbirds next week.

Clyde...

Glad your 'Fly What Ya Brung' turned out great...!!! If your Saturday weather turned out like it did in the Guthrie area... you picked a perfect day for the event. Light winds... mid 80's... and it was standing room only at the flight line. Everybody getting the fine tuning done on the Warbirds heading for Tulsa next weekend. Of course... Sunday and today are complete blow-outs around here with winds going to hit the 20/30+ mph range. Just hope it blows itself out before next Friday...!!! Everybody keep your fingers crossed..!!!

They was working the edges of the runway yesterday Sept. 6th to get ready for our new paved overlay.
I went to field to test fly my A26 Invader (that I haven't flew in a few weeks) before I take it to Warbirds Over Tulsa,
But the sky was so dark I only made 3or4 laps and then landed. Black plane and dark skies is not a good combo.

Clyde...

Not good ol' buddy... black plane against dark skies... it could go wrong in a New York minute...!!! Especially with my old eyeballs. I've got a bright red/white/blue TaylorCraft and I lose it up there now and then. And that's on a semi-sunny day.

For some reason can not find the 'Who's going to Tulsa Warbirds' thread...?? Was going to chew on Howard about his comment "He'll be there if the creeks don't rise". As of today (Wednesday)... the creeks are rising in the OKC area... with more to come today. But the weatherman said it should be out of here by Thursday eve (fingers crossed). Who in their right mind would ever want to be a weatherman in the state of Oklahoma...??? It's a coin toss at best.

But... being the last state Warbird for the season... your going to need dynamite and a pistol to keep me from going. Even if I spend the weekend under the EZ-up talking about flying.

Chris/Claude... the yellow shirts are coming... even if we have to wade/paddle to get there...!!!

-Stan

The rain from Hermine stopped yesterday, some places suffered 8 inches! Saturday and Sunday will be in the upper 80's, cooler than today! The link to the Tulsa 7 day forecast.

If you are using secondary roads to get to Tulsa check for washed out bridges and culverts before you leave!

Here's the hourly forecast for the Tulsa Glue Dobbers field.
