My land yacht was made from extrusions from commercial aluminum door frames, go-kart wheels/tires, and a plastic laundromat seat. It didn't have brakes. How stupid was that?? The 25 sf sail was sewn from rip-stop nylon used for windbreakers. The whole thing cost less than $75 in the '70's. It would do about 35-40 mph on the beach at low tide with an on-shore breeze of 15 mph. It had rudder pedals with push-rods for steering. You could spin it on packed sand, but it would flip on a paved lot. Riding with one wheel up was the most fun. The big mistake I made was to arrange the steering linkage so pushing with the right foot made it turn left. When I started flying full-size planes, I was the worst taxier the instructor had ever seen. No problems in the air, but a real mess on the ground. Roger
