Congratulations Shane,
Nice addition to your fleet. How is the Bonzi running ?

last time i had it running it was great, but i lost the hatch, and damaged the hull, so i stripped it and had an apache built with the parts, but i sold the apache off lols i know.

i sold the bonzi hull this is what it looks like now.

ive hit a slow point with the seaducer cat, im making some changes and doing some wheeling and dealing, i was goign to by some thing realy nice from the states but the deal didnt work out, so ive decided to go all out in a way and try to do a decent job on this cat, im going to totaly refit the boat myself and have ordered a ship load of new gear.

the engine mounts turned up today, the prop should be here very soon, i also ordered a twin puick up rudder, new strut, new stuffing tubes, a couple of digital serovs, picco, new push rods, new alloy radio box seal mounts, sedtec memoery tacho, billet tach mount, alloy servo mounts, new drive shaft and running gear, new cowel locks, volt watch, plus a heap of other building suplies and spares, this was goign to be a cheap cat to get on the water quickly, but ive had a change of plan and im going to use it to learn as much as i can and have some fun.

i have to sit back and play the waitting game now and wait for things to be delivered fromt he other side of australia and the usa, ive also got some thing else lined up for the power plant, ill let you kno onces its a done deal.

Hi Mark

my plans have not realy change just my plans on the side have changes witch dont realy afect the cat or the 50 inch apache.

my plan was to have that apache here befor my x-mass holidays, run its guts out for 2 weeks over my x-mass break then sell it or shelf if for my other project, the apache never turned up befor x-mass for many reasons and or excuses, so i sold it so that plan never realy changed about selling it.

my plan was to get this seaducer cat up and running and in the water, well im still doing that so that plan hasnt changed, i was going to buy some thing real nice from the states, that  wasnt to be,.

this has free up some more money, so the cat gets alot more funding then it was goingto,  the cat was goimg to be my play boat with a bigger show boat for occasional fun, so the cat is still going to be a play boat for fun it might just go alittle faster now, but its just getting a little more atention now, no a bad thing as its a nice cat.

if i catch up with some guys from perth i want to make sure i can keep up, so call me crazy, but not much has change, im working nights i dont have much time to run rc boats during the day im not runnign them at night so this is why it was important to get that apache befor x-mass, so any way i dont mind waiting for good stuff to be delivered fior the cat

cool mate, in the end you will have a great set up..... and will be very happy with it ,,, them seducer hulls aparently runn good when the set up is right....
its great to see your getting right into it........it was a shame you dident getto runn your apache over your holidays...so did you get the other hull you were looking at?.
ive just rebuilt my motor in the apache, and chucked it into my cat for a runn to see what it goes like ,and reseat the ring in it, and then set it up . befor i put the motor back into my apache....and work out whether to keep the cat 53 inch thundercat/expresscraft cuppy, or sell it and get a nother offshore cat...
and then its saving time , till i work out my next build,

i brought one of these today

Quickdraw 25 CC HIGH TORQUE

http://www.quickdrawengines.com/Page_76.html

old picture but you get the idea.

the ready to run motor package with quick draw hot pipe was $954 usd with express shipping and a cut down zenoah engine collet, it worked out around $1050 australian with the dodgy paypal converstion.

yesterday, i picked up some epoxy for the new stuffing tubes and some velcro for the reciver and battery pack.

while waiting for the motor ill be able to refit the servo mounts, install the alloy radio box seal mounts and redo the push rods and replace the bell crank and and do a bit of polishing on the alloy parts.

I had 5 mins to kill yesterday so i made up a new water fitting to run the boat on land for its first start and to give it a quick low end tune while on land befor its first outing.

i call this one on land water cooling v3.0 i added another water nipple since the cat will now have a dual rudder pick up for the quick draw 25 ht motor.

since i dont have any mono hulls any more i cut down my bonzi water stand to fit the cat

no major updates as im still waiting on items for delivery and i have not had much time to spend on the cat, you might be able to tell im realy excited about getting this cat on the water.

When i spoke to Paula from quickdraw befor i payed for the motor pipe combo i was told they where out of stock, so it will be 2 or 3 weeks bfor they have them in stock, so i dare say it will be a month befor i get the motor and pipe with shippign time, this will give me plenty of time for other items ive orded from the states and the other side of australia to get here and give me time to work on the cat.  Im taking some time off work most likly more then a month, and i might be moving close to some lakes so i should be able to spend more time working on the cat and getting it on the water to have some fun, im looking forward to it.

Hi Shane
What are you doing on the 17th. The guys from mandurah are comming up to south lakes if your cat is up and running it would be good to give it a go.
There is one guy that will be there with a cat just like yours so he might help you with yours.
So if you are up for it they will there about 9 to 9:30am.

Chears Kerry

As you might on noticed i didnt make it today, the cats still to far off from getting on the water and its a long trip to drive up and watch you guys have all the fun, but once shes on the water and half running right ill be up.

My cat came with the engine mount bolt holes moved back 1 inch, reasurch befor i brought this cat i found it was common for some seaducer cats, but still unsure as it ran fine with the engine mounts moved back an inch with a full mod zen, ive payed for a quickdraw 25ht to use in this cat, not sure if i should move the engine forward as we know some seaducer ran great with the motor mounts moved back with full mods, i dont want to turn it into a plow, im slack as im not keen to glue in a new stuffing tube and cut it to lenght, or to have to cut it out and redo it to move the engine mounts around any opinions on the mounting position ?

shane , easyest thing to do is runn it and see, ive found the only way to know is test run, test run, and then tune it in...
but also its not hard at all to redo the stuffing tube..placement in the hull........read up some articals on it and you will be fine........
and one 500ml coke or water bottles also help, if you nead for wait forward or rear (for testing only) just fill them up as little or as much as you nead. and place them in the hull to see what it runns like with more weight at the bow or aft of the boat..some guys ive seen and been told runn deep sea fishing weights in the front of there hydro`s to balance them out....

ill stop being slack and ill try and test both engine posistions

I did think ahead on this subject i have a flexi thats for the moved back posistion that came with the boat, but i have brought a new Hughey flexi i can cut for the stock engine location, last week i brought 2 x 5/16 18 inch stuffing tubes 1 x 11/32 12 inch long stuffing tube, new strut bushing, new drive dog and new push rods for throttle cause deep down i new i would have to try both positions, so i have the every thing needed to try both engine positions.

i might try the moved back engine mounting locations first, as the boat is basicly set up for these postions and the throttle linkages are set to go for this position.

then later if i feel the cg is out of wack, i can change the throttle push rods as i have brought a lot of difrent lenghts just incase, and i can grind out the epoxy and move the engine forward,

ill try the 6617-3-400-LL prop first, once i have some rpm and speed readings once the quickdraw is run in ill go for there and have a chat with brent daily and or i might try and get my prop re cupped in australia.

Fill up the bathtub with enough water so that it will float. It should sit fairly level to a tad tail heavy at rest. That will start to put you in the neighborhood.

Shane, if I am not mistaken you can plug the lead into the black wire coming out of the coil instead of wrapping around the spark plug wire for a cleaner installation. Check with Chris he should know for sure.

Hi Leo

yes it is my understanding from resurch on the net i can plug the tach lead into the black coil wire on the sorce coil, the propblem is i normaly pug my modded picco ino this coil wire.

i like the protection from the modded picco engine kill switch, as it will kill the engine with loss of power to the reciver, if the radio loses signal and i can manualy kill the engine with the 3rd channel on my radio.

ill have to do some testing to see if i can plug the picco and the tach into the same black coil wire to do a nice neat mounting job, and see if it affects the rpm readings and or the picco, i dont think the picco will be affected, as the circuit is normal closed held close with power, with loss of power the picco opeans and grounds the coil to the engine killing spark there for stoping the engine

or i can just wrap the tach lead around the spark plug wire and put the picco normaly where i would into the back coil wire, ill figer it out once my engine and the billet tach mount is here, i cant see both plugged into the black coil wire being a problem, but some real world testing would not hurt

Thanks Shane

some building supplies turned up today i orded them from hobby supplies on the other side of australia, a new seaducer cat strut, some cowel locks, brass stuffing tubes and some water fittings for some thing i want to make up

i got some new radio box lids cut today, i could not get them in colours as the coloured plastic was way to thick, so i drop into the car tint place who did my ford falcon and got some off cuts, not the best way but ill give it ago.

i also droped in to the honda motor bike shop to pick up some oil quickdraw recomend for the qd 25ht motors, small bottles i can only make 5 litres fuel mix per bottle with these at quickdraws recomended mix.

old radio box lids

the new clear plastic lids that i just tinted, it turned out ok, looks much better in person as the camera,s flash goes right thru the tint.

the tint is ment to remove 90% of the suns uv rays, it might help keep the elcetrics safe.

The tint also helps to keep out condensation also.
I was going to say that you got your hands on Bill Zuber's nuts but that just doesn't sound right. I'm using those on all of my boats now.

Good thread that you've got going on, very detailed.

Good thread that you've got going on, very detailed.

i thought i would be driving people up the walls by now lols its a slow thread but when she comes together it start to move quickly, i do like this cat im excited and i like taking pride in what i do, and these threads are a good way for me to learn and bonce ideas of evey one

I am taking my sweet time, but im reasurching every night, every part or parts i post apart from the oil and clear radio box lids was ordered around 2 weeks befor posting any pictures of them, and was rtesurched for even longer befor it was payed for.

Every thing is payed for and i order every thing i need to the cats make over and then some, just waiting for the items to be custom built and or deilery time, so just reasurching still, trying to learn as much as i can and trying not to second quess myself to much and paying the waiting game for delivery.

Every thing is in transit to me, just waiting on the motor to be built and cc racing from the usa to get into gear and send me my 2 orders, its only been 11 day wait for the shipping costs as the order where payed for 11 days ago, then thats pritty much it, just got to wait for delivery.

I sold off some items i didnt need and borught a used propworks west 6717/3 430c RES prop to try out on the cat with my other propworks west 6617/3-440-C-LL prop, dont ask me what the numbers mean, all i know is it sounds good.

Ive even stoped work to have more time with the family and the seaducer cat and reasurching rc boats, and will be moving shortly to a new house closer to more lakes and some better job prospects.

I cant wait to get this thing ripping and to get it set up and sorted for some half decent run times and mabe a half decent speed.

I have read some where

ALL THAT MATTERS IS THE WAY IT SHATTERS
