For those of you who are using lithium batteries for your airborne at what voltage reading under a one amp load do you pack up for the day and recharge? Thanks.

I use a 500ma load...and stop flying at 7.2V....I'm running the Northern Model Products (NMP) 2000mah Li-ion packs. These packs will be available thru Central Hobbies if they are not already available.....I have been running them since mid February of this year (03') and have probably 700+ flights on these batteries....in 2 different models.

On a 1amp load the rules should be don't go below 6V.

I just plotted the discharge curve of the Batts when I started using them...I use a regular Voltmeter I have had for years and years and just discharged the batts....for like 200ma at a time then load tested with my meter ever 200ma and setup to find the "cliff" in the curve....These Batteries are very good about a linear discharge until you hit that magic capacity where they fall off.....I use about 0.10V per flight (aprox 180ma)....From 8.4V down to around 7.2-7.3 with my tester which I know is low on the load side.....

If I am practicing a bunch of snaps or have really long flights then the consumption goes up a little....But I'm regularly getting 8+ flights on a charge....And if I only fly a sequence and land I can go around 11 or 12.....I have not pushed it much farther than this....but I see no need to push it further!

From the technical data I have read on the cells themselves from the cell manufacturer, this of course depends on which batts you are using, the good safe cutoff is at 6V for a 2Cell or 3V per cell (7.2V nominal) pack..... and absolutely do not go below 2.5-2.6V per cell or they could be damaged.

I know many manufacturers have their discharge curves available...Ask them! Where they say to stop.....Really they are the best source...
