Yesterday I had my first flight (with the Jamara Angel XL).

AEAJR of this forum did tip me to buy right away a spare wing.
And this advice was a good one.

How did it go? read below:

I went outside in a large open field with high grass. Plenty space and almost no wind.
Everything was set together (very easy) and the plane was trown in the air by a friend.

The first part of the flight went not to bad. But I moved the controllers to much and the plane landed quit hard into the grass.

The propellor did snap a (little) part out of the wing.
I did a second attempt but that flight was not much better.
Now I know why.... In the first crash the motor was pressed a bit into the fuselage. The plane was hard to controlle and did crash again.

The motor could be place back on it's place very easy, because it is a kind of soft plastic.The wing had already a second part snatched away....so I had to take the spare wing.

The third flight went very very well. I had much more feeling with the controlles and everything went well!
I landed and wanted to make another flight. But the battery was empty. The shop where I did buy the plane does make the batteries themselfs, but had not the correct connenction part.
Friday I do have a second batterie.

I am happy that I did pick this type of first plane " Angel XL ".
Spareparts are not expensive and they are solid build.
When you do start looking to this park-flyers it is very tempting to buy a nice looking plane. But if you crash such a plane the frustation can be big.
In the end you have learn flying.

It was big fun and I did notice that when I do have more skills, the Jamara Angel XL can do also other things because of its powerfull motor.

I will also report my second day of flying in this thread.
For other beginners this thread it maybe interesting.
My small conclusion:
- buy an easy to fly plane like the "Jamara Angel XL", T-Hawk and so on...
- buy a spare wing
- fly in a big field. (grass)
- move the controlles a little..the plane does respond more than you think

Yesterday I had my second day of flying the Jamara Angel XL (or Skywave).
It all went smooth and it was fun....big fun.

Other tips for beginners:

a)
The Angel XL / Skywave has 3 holes in the rudders. (manual page 4)
-Low-sensity
-Mid-sensity
-High sensity

For the first flight you better take "low sensity".
This because the plane does respond more than you ever expect during the first flight.

b)
Also if you make a turn, move the left/right control stick a bit earlier back and move also the other stick a bit down (climing)

c)
The trim pot for the left stick (elevation) I had to set a bit higher. Which means negative elevation.
It seems that the plane wants to move upwards already.

Check past posts on protecting the wings and props with strapping tape and how it's done. It will help save wings and props.....
AND HAVE A BALL WITH IT....

Yes indeed. A good tip!

Also if you do crash, try to stop the motor (3channel planes).
The wing will move during the crash and if the motor is turned of, it can't snap into the wings.

The Skywave (or Angel XL) has soft platic, also at the place where the motor is.
If the crash is heavy it does move a bit. So check it and place it back to its place.
It is stunning how much these planes can handle if you crash.
This makes them real beginner planes...without the restriction that they are boring to flight.
