Hi:

I crashed my aircraft this morning. It was a seagull Boomerang. A really nice flying aircraft. It´s more or less a trainer but with semi-simmetrical airfoil, so I could do many things with it. I also had a pure trainer before. I was wondering wich aircraft to buy next, and if it would be too soon to get a 3D plane. I´ve only been flying for about 2 months or so, bout so far normal flying, landing and so on, and basic aerobatics are not a problem, so I´d like to go for something with wich I had more room to learn and experience.
I have a thunder tiger .46 engine wich I´d like to keep.
Thanks in advance for any hints you could provide.

Charlie

Charlie,
Most of the 3D planes are very easy to fly as long as you have the controls set for LOW rates. They are light weight and fly as slow as a trainer. I see no reason you shouldn't try one. As you get more practice, you can try it with 3D rates.

The second plane I flew was a profile and it flew better than my trainer!

Thanks for the hint!

I just checked the Great planes page to see the model. It looks a bit though like the boomerang I had. Do you know the seagull models boomerang??
Is this Big Stik very good for aerobatics??

VMAR V-Stick. Around here you can buy one at $79.99 and they will sell you the other for $59.99. We have several at our field and this is really a GREAT ARF. Never had an ARF so complete, I mean all the push rods were in. It has a sweet little servo tray you can mount 3 servos in and the set it in the fuse. Great flyer. One draw back is only one servo for BOTH ail's. V-mar's ECS (Enhanced Covering System) is cool too. It looks like sticker's but it made into the covering. Check the whole line of thier planes out at:

Sticks are fun, the Uproar is a blast and flys great on your engine, the magic is a blast, but I don't care for the gear all that much, and there are a ton more. You should be able to fly any of them in that class.

Thanks a lot for all the infos. I see there are so many options it´s gonna be tough to choose.
I guess I´ll go to a mid or low wing, or maybe even a 3D. Guess I´ll start with low control rates on all of them, and as I get more confidence and experience, increase the rates, and hopefully the fun!!

Look at the Super Sportster at Tower while you're at it.

Hello again:

For anyone who´s interested, I finally got a Giles 202 for my engine. Thanks to all of you for your hints. I hope this airplane lasts longer than the previous one.
