Ive been offered a sanwa rd 6000 at a bargain price

Im using a futaba 4 channel skysport on my hb/df with a GWS rx.
Can I just remove the xtal from tx and put it in sanwa?
or is it more complicated than this?
Im new to computer radios
Help most appreciated

All that you have to do is find out what channel the RD6000 is on and change the crystal on your receiver. It is against FCC regulations to change the crystal on your radio.

Savagegti the Xtal from your current TX mght not seat right in the 6000 you might check your local HS for one on your proper freq. that will fit proper. if that's the 6000 Super you've made a good choice, I've got one and it's great.
flipower your are permitted to change xtals in TX's as long as you stay within the prescribed Freq. and the FCC point is moot as Savagegti is in the U.K. and would have to comply with the British equivalent

After re-reading the post savagegti the Futaba is negative shift and thr RD6000 is positive shift (at least in the states that is) But there is an option on the RD6000 Super to change shift so you don't have to get all new RX's and that is per model so you can always get the proper shift later for other models since it can remeber the settings for 8 different ones. Here's a link to a PDF manual incase you didn't get one http://www.airtronics.net/RD6000_Super.htm

I think you guys may have missed the fact that "savagegti" is in the UK. As such it's possible here to freely swap crystals around between transmitters and receivers and we don't have the problem of some manufacturers using +ve or -ve shift. In UK (and Europe) they all work the same way.

So, to answer the original question - yup you should be able to do just that - switch the Tx crystal. It's true that each of the Tx manufacturers have their own brand of Xtals and in theory you should use Sanwa in Sanwa, Futaba in Futaba and so on. But in reality I've never seen any problem with mix and matching.

Just one word of warning about the RD6000 though - is it the "Sport" or the "Super" model? While the Sport will be fine for a fixed pitch heli like a HB/DF if you later move up to a collective pitch heli (especially one with CCPM swash mixing) then you would want to be sure you've got the "Super" rather than the "Sport" as the former has CCPM support (and much better heli support all round) while the latter does not.

Thanx Wright Flyer Didn't Know you guys don't have to mess with that pos/neg shift stuff , and it's great that all your Xtal's are uniform not the case here though MY TX Xtal from my focus 3 wouldn't fit my RD 6000 Super. Hmmm wonder who benifits from this
