Status: offline 		What Hacker or other brushless motor can I use instead of the GWS A drive motor I am currently running on my Horsefly Hobbies Gee Bee. It also needs to be able to run on Kokam 3 cell 560mah Lythium Poly batteries, since this is what I got. I know I will also need a new speed controler. Which one ?

Status: offline 		Let's see... GWS A drive is a 280?

I think that the AF 010 would be a good replacement.

More power and still fairly light. The 801P is the 010, a Maxon 4:1 planetary GB, and a 10 amp ESC and runs around $140.

AeroMicro.com has the same motor and ESC mated to a GWS gear box for about $135.

The only Hacker would be the B20 and it's more powerful and more expensive... about $210 with ESC.

From having seen the mini gee bee on e-zone, I'm pretty sure Tex means ips-a; that's what the kit mfr suggests. The PJS 300 is the only brushless I've seen so far that is weight comparable to the ips drive. This certainly doesn't mean there aren't options, just that I haven't seen any. Somebody prove me wrong here please--do it for Texas3D's sake .

You're right, I was thinking of the motor in the EPS 100C. I haven't done much with the indoor/light weight stuff.

What size motor is that - a 180?

I don't know if there is a brushless that size/weight or not. The AF 010 is definitely a 280 class replacement. Is the AF Firefly a possibility?

Anybody has more infor if this would work ? Also, here can I get this firefly motor ?

Status: offline 		I think the ips motor is like a 150; the 7.2v version is called a cn12rxc. I haven't heard much about the firefly myself, but I know tower and quite possibly a few other vendors sell it--I think it comes in a few gear ratios, so one of them just might be usable for this.
