ive got an lst2 that i was thinking of doing the conversion to. is everyone happy with the stuff from Fine Designs? also is keeping the 2 speed and using the clutch bell the only option? Or is there a pinion gear you can buy? I would really like to do it without running the servos for brakes and reverse, but would like to use the brakes reverse from the motor/esc.

I think I saw somewhere, someone makes a single speed conversion for the lst, that eliminates the two speed gear set, That could be the way to go. seams to take alot of cash to get a good brushless setup running. Almost like buying a new rig.

thats pretty cool. but on a threaded pinion adapter like he sells, would i be able to use motor reverse without unthreading the pinion? or is mechanical reverse still required?

Not sure, I'm not real familiar with the product, just knew I saw it before. Try giving them a call.

I have the pinion adapter sitting in front of me. It has two locking nuts, one is to lock the collet on to the shaft of the motor, so I highly doubt the pinion will back off. The other nut is to tighten up against the pinion, again doubt that it will back off.
