Hey I am building a 35% Carden Extra 330 I have a few questions:

1. Aileron, Elevator and Ridder servo requirements. I am planin to use a 400 oz torque servo from JR for the control surfaces. Do you really need 2 400 oz torque servos for each wing half? It sounds like overkill. I am planing to use the plane for IMAC competition and very light 3D maneuvers. I don't find 3D very interesting so I don't plan on doing much of it. My real interest is precision aerobatic maneuvers. A 400 oz servo provides 25 Lbs of pull on a control surface. I don't mind spending the money for 2 servos for each wing if it is necessary. But I also don't want to be waisting money that could be going to other areas or weekend contests. Same question for the rudder to?

2. Tuned Pipes. This is something I have always wanted to try. But will I get a significant performance boost on the DA 100 using tuned pipes. I should gain a few rpm's and therefor more thrust but is it worth taking the time to set up?

I plan on using the following equipment on the plane;
DA 100L
Tuned Pipes?
JR DS 8711
JR 9503 radio
Possible smoke system (if there is room with weight, not a priority though)
The plane will be build with the goal of coming in around 25 to 27 lbs. I plan on using a significant amount of carbon and various techniques to save weight in the construction.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. What are your thoughts?

I'm flying a single 7950TH at 6v in each wing with absolutely no problems so its running at 403 in/oz just like the 8711s. I replaced the worn-out 8711s after 300 flights with the Hitec only because I wanted programmability and I really like the metal gear train, and I wanted to have an upgrade path to flying HVs all around. (BTW, Horizon replaced the 8711 gear trains/pots for free, so I've got them for backups).

I'm running a push-pull on the rudder with two 7955TGs. I was originally flying with a single 8711 on the tail and it was fine, but I felt I wanted a bit more control.

I only fly IMAC. No 3D.

DA-100 (original) on straight mufflers and not much lightening in the build, so the plane is pretty heavy at 28.6 lbs.

Have you considered the DA-120 being released in March?

Hope that helps.
