i was debating between this car and ofna's ultra mbx pro.
i saw the xterm at the track the other day and it was screaming fast.
they have a new xterm deluxe kit coming out soon. not sure when though.

main reason i did not go with the xterm over the ofna is that it is hobby people's brand and i am moving where there are no hobby people stores anywhere so no one would carry any replacment parts for it but seems many stores all over carry ofna parts.

Hey, I just got an xterminator a few days ago and have it already broken-in. This thing is fast. This thing turns pretty tight too. I would recommend the xterminator. It is of good quality and is probably the cheapest rtr on the market. Then again this is my opinion, you have to make the choice. One thing the only place I know of that sells it and its parts is Hobby People. You can try hobbypeople.net and find the store closest to you or just shop on-line.

kennyC-

I've owned an XTM X-Terminator for several months now and have been very pleased with its performance and durability.

Yes, it's fast. The XTM .247 is easy to break-in and keep tuned and it pushes the buggy to some very acceptable speeds. Low-end is decent and very good mid- to high-end. I would personally wait until the 'Deluxe' version is available in late July/early August as it will come standard with the oversized cooling head. The head that's on it now is sorely lacking in cooling power - I've swapped mine for a Nova Products aftermarket head, very effective.

My only other complaint would be the weak gear case dog ears that brace the shock towers - particularly vulnerable on the rear case if it lands on the wing. On a positive note, it's a measly $8 part to replace.

The tires are decent; hard compound suitable for nearly any condition. If you don't like them they come unglued out of the box so you can swap them out if you'd like.

The Tx/Rx combo is a sad little AM setup - not the greatest quality. However the servos are more than adequate to do the job.

The standard version comes with diff housings that are not conducive to filling with silicone oils as they split right down the center. Basically you're restricted to diff greases. The 'Deluxe' version will be equipped with cupped diff housings - much better.

The fuel cell is not equipped with a primer. To me, this is a good thing - one less potential leak to worry about.

The flywheel, although adequate, is prone to eating clutch shoes when under some serious stress. The flywheel's clutch shoe pins are only half length (don't ask me why) and some people have complained about the shoes dislodging themselves and binding the clutch unit. Not good since the flanged clutch bell bearings can't really handle the abuse this causes. I've since switched to the OFNA 3-shoe aluminum shoe setup with Boca bearings and have not had a problem since.

Anyway, that's my two cents - and I admit I'm nit-picking. I genuinely am quite happy with the buggy and think Global did a good job designing it. FWIW, I'd wait for the new 'Deluxe' version (3-5 weeks) and buy that one - it has a lot of nice hop-ups and features not included with the standard buggy (including a nicer Tx and metal gear servos).
