Tried the high end system this past Monday, mounted on a Kadet Senior ARF (KSA).
Half watt 900mhz transmitter with a 480 line CCD color camera.
We had a bit of a signal issue with the system but this was a maiden flight for both the system and the KSA.
I plan to replace the camera servo with a BB servo and we are going to fabricate a ground plane antenna for the video receiver.
The receiver sitting on an aluminum camp table which puts the antenna 3 feet off the ground was less than ideal in general but was adequate for the first flight.
Plane flew great and the camera pan setup I used worked without a hitch. I set up the pan servo to one of the slider switches on my Futaba 9C radio. That particular switch has a feature which emits a beep when the switch is at center so you dont have to look down at the transmitter to see where you have the thing pointed. All the way up: camera is looking forward, all the way down: camera is looking to the rear, switch beeps: camera is looking straight out under the left wing.
A hi res (25 meg) clip can be viewed at:

Feedback and criticism appreciated.
I will render a lower res video shortly and get it on the site ASAP.

Very nice!
I am impressed. I like the transition from outside camcorder to onboard video. It makes it more interesting than the drone of engine noise all the time! Ive been trying to get Studio 7.5 to cooperate and put in background music. I see what you meant about unrestricted bystanders, man!

Very well done!

$349 at SuperCircuits.com but its a 900mhz system and you need to be a licensed ham operator to run on that freq. I believe they have similar systems on 1.2 and 2.4ghz which would be legal.
The camera is a CCD camera with 480 or 460 lines of resolution depending on what part of their site you are looking at.
The system runs on 12v so a large nicad pack is needed. Mine is a 10 cell 1100mAh AA pack. Ran the system for at least 30 minutes with no loss of power. The power pack is the biggest part of the system.

Will post pics of the interior of the Kadet later this weekend if people are interested. System included camera, tx, rx, wall bug for the rx and all the cabling you need.
The switch I installed myself with some mods to the wiring harness.

Are you attempting to use MP3's for your soundtrack and, if so, were they ripped with Music Match? I learned that Music Match and Pinnacle Systems Studio (both version 7 & 8) are NOT compatible. I bought Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 to rip my MP3's and they work fine. Nothing I did would get the Music Match ripped ones to work. According to the feedback forums on the Pinnacle website, nothing will. Studio will show them in the directory but will not load them to the menu page.
Yeah, I didnt even see that dude till just before I went airborne. He just stepped out of the tree line during my takeoff run! This was the maiden flight for the KSA and I was letting it just run to see if it would ROG on its own. Soon as I saw him, I went for UP!
The KSA flies like a dream and doesnt even seem to feel the added weight of the video system. Putts around with no problem at minimal throttle.

Thats my Dad/cameraman with the commentary. Some of my best crashes were done without the camera running, unfortunately. I would love to put together a blooper reel video, I just dont have enough crash footage to do it with.
Yet.
Soundtrack music would be the Average White Band's rendition of "Pick up the pieces".

Good deal!
I am running a Super Tigre G51 ringed that I got used on Ebay, spinning a Master Airscrew 11/6 prop. More than enough power but wont quite hover.
Might experiment with either wood props or possibly an APC but it flies well and with authority using this prop so why mess with a good thing?
As far as the video system, I am going to flip the antenna on the KSA downwards to see if that helps the signal, then try a ground plane. If that doesnt get it clean enough, we do have a Yagi antenna but it might be a bit big for the Yagihelm idea that KE4UVQ suggested. My father has it and I have no idea how many elements it's got. I already have a hard hat with a toilet plunger mounted on it (Y2K party hat) so I can butcher that if needed.

If you mean the video system itself, it cost me $349 plus shipping from Supercircuits. I believe I paid another $35 or so for rush shipping. Wont do THAT again. I think the power packs cost something like $20 each from Mr
