Hi 72.

lot lot parts for MT70 .so dont worry about the parts if you need some, and I let one big company that have ISO9000 to build my UPDATE engine , and I test run each of them for make sure engine are good and powerful . this the new way for me to do the engine, I think better do the job what I'm good with , it's only for design and marketing , he he.

Sorry to bring you down Tommy but ISO9000 doesn't equal quality. It equals consistency. If there is a flaw that means there all flawed./ but I am probably wrong I hope.

At least Maccas is (sort of) palatable.
Unlike some of the other "ISOCrap" mentioned "elsewhere" in this thread

I recently got a MT-70 new at a killer price.I have been following this thread since the beginning so I know what to expect. Mine runs great and turns a 23-8 over 7000! I need a source for a y-header or a suitable type of muffler(s) as this thing is WAY to loud! Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks, Brian blloyd@wi.rr.com

i guess im still here for the entertainment value,,i was kinda  thinking the next post would be regarding the latest mt70 offering..and all its associated issues,,but i guess that never came to light,  because the promised, new engine ,,never appeared ,im glad to see my mt70 is still running and in one piece,,that could also be attributed to having valley view  re do the thing,,, but also is because other things in life dosent give me flying time. one must remember in most cases good deals turn into big agravation with the good deal ,to be honest a good running mt 70 with bugs removed ,,is  a value,,so for those who are inheriting or buying mt engines ,,i can only wish you good luck,,,,,.based upon this thread youll need it.

I have seen them up close but have no personal experience actually running the MLD 70 Twin. I do however have some experience with running the MLD 35cc Single from which it is derived. The MLD 35cc Single is quite a good engine and is the most powerful in the "Chinese 35cc" class that I have experienced. There is no reason to think the 70 twin would be different.

Perhaps Ralph will chime in on the 70 Twin, I know he was similarly impressed with the 35 Single as I was.

At 4.73 pounds it must be a long lasting engine and weighing over a pound more than a DA 60 I won't be buying one unless I have a grossly tail heavy plane.

The upwards canted plugs will make it next to impossible to hide it in any cowl without cutting holes in the top of the cowl for the plug caps.

after seeing the weight and the plugs that alone stop me from looking at the 70.
to bad about the MT70 it filled the bill with good weight and good power, but no quality control.

The CRRC 55cc twin is putting out great power with less weight than the 70cc twins. I am swinging a 23x8 on mine and it will 3d my 16 pound 89" MXSR..

Weight on a postal scale including standoff's/bolts/igniton/mufflers is 3 lbs 11.9 ounces. Not bad considering only a 6-8 weight gain over the popular singles. pLUS IT IS much SMOOTHER RUNNING WITH LESS VIBRATION. hAS A WALBRO CARB AND HAS NO DEAD SPOTS THROUGHOUT THE THROTTLE RANGE!

What a pitiful shame,,,, this is a mt70 thread and what are we all talking about?? other  engines made by other people  ,other than mt ,,i can now say with experience ,and having been educated ,,,that if any of the manufacturers follow mr shen ,in how they do buisness ,,they may want to stop now,,if a manufacturer makes a  powerful  decently  weighted engine for 50cc class planes with q.c. and good service ,,it will be in great demand,,,,,,,,tommy had the bird in his hand and let it fly away.  the mt70cc  engine in essence is great,,bring it back correctly and it will sell, and be liked as well.

Check on youtube theres a couple of videos regarding the mld70 ,,and if i remember  the plugs stuck out ,,,it appears the same or close in width as the 70  straight plug version,,some cowl blisters  would hide them and  with the batteries  behind my cockpit,on my goldwing yakk 55m ,,,,,,but no need because i still have a great reliable mt70 in place and found it  much more spunky using coleman fuel,,and i dont need to worry about gasahol or all the additives that goes into automotive fuel,,and it smells much better too.,,also if the gentleman who wanted to reduce noise  yes the header with a canister would do it ,,check with novayusa ,if he is still on this thread ,,,he made the header for mt ,,when they were offered as a combo or seperate.

This was not only with the 70. The 57 was an incredible engine but again QC issues killed it..

yup,,when i got my 57 ,i said what a nice clean looking ,lightweight engine,,what i really had was a good case and carb, everything else was off center ,uninspected and a total waste of time and money and when i had to send it in and pay shipping on a repair of a no good from the factory engine, and complained in rcu ,,i got called a whiner by the bonehead who sent it back off center and just as bad as when i sent it in ,,for some reason,,,lolll this guy is no longer in buisness,,im sure it had more to do with dealing with mtengines than his ,denying responsibility for sales and repairs.or calling good paying customers whiners.

Ain't that a fact. most of the 57's I dealt with are still being used and are still quite strong engines. They all got stripped, inspected and reassembled by me first though. A fair few bits got rejected in that process but to give Tomy his due, he did look after me with parts when requested.

I wish he would go and use his "design talents" and work alongside DLE or GP for the production side of things. The resulting lineup would be pretty impressive I think.

I agree. Tomy's designs were very nice, the 57,80 and 70. It was the QC at the assembly stage where it all fell apart. The 57 I owned is still running strong albeit with the new redesigned crankcase. They have very high torque and were happiest with a 23x8 or larger prop on them. It never spun overly impressive numbers on the ground but in the air it would shine and put the DLE55 to shame and out pull it all to heck.
