RE: Pilatus PC9 1/3 scale
Thank you guys for your messages.
We are a bit forward now. Today both of us are almost done with their plane, and I am far behind them. I have to say one of us is retired which make things easier.
We are now waiting for two last main parts of the plane : the cockpit, and the engine. Both are on the way I will tell about it as soon as we will get them.
Hopefully they will be ready for the great show in France this summer, but I won't, I hope to be done next year, I am actually working a lot at work and building a new house (with workshop of course) + familly that let me not enough time as I wanted to.
For people who can read French, here are some website where you can find the last news :
For the master :

Merci.

Here is the state of the master after unmold it.
Christian blew the rudder out in order to work on the back to unmold the front parts.
The bump was still in the mold and we blew it out of the mold thereafter.
The fins of stabs also remained in the molds with much more difficulty for getting out. Henri has worked hard to get something better. The risk is to be obliged to adjust it for each release.

No this is not new breast implants, these are just two cones, one Christian and one for me. Thank you Henri.
First front part. Good looking !!!!! Hey Henri, you're all dwarfed by ...
Henri and his plane.
Pierrot and his plane.

The second rear ready to unmold. Here Henryi and Christian.
The team that will do it, Mireille, Jean-Claude.
Everything is ready to start.
Inside the beast, this is the rear expected for Christian, mine will come later.
View from the small hole in the lens.
Here it is the second rear in 5 minutes was removed from the mold very well ... Clack and it's good. That's how it should be every time.
The work of Henri and Mireille has paid, the surface is very good, we have only a few bubbles that will be quickly repaired.
Jean-Claude was cleaning the mold for the third aircraft, mine.
Great day for working outdoors. We see that the mold is still shinning.

The disaster, the third back is riddled with bubbles.
The laminate is stuck to the fuselage. In short nothing good on that one. We really have problems with wax.
Viewed from the other side.
All the bubbles have to be filled.
Viewed from the inside ...

RE: Pilatus PC9 1/3 scale
Some other news.
We received the cockpit, and the engine.
And things have changed. It will be turboprop.
Here it is, a brand new turboprop from Jetcat. The commercial name will probably be SP15 or SPT15.
It is a P800 that give the power. It weighs 5Kg and after the first test it is able to tract 60Kg with a 36x14 two blades airscrew. I guess lots of people will love it.
We will put a 4 blades 30x15 which should be enough and realistic. Electronics will help us to limitate the power.
We received serial number 003 and 004 the third engine will come later.
And here is a photo :
It goes through the access hatch, phew....

Thank you guys for your messages. It gives some courage to continue.
My rear fuselage with all its bubbles.
Still my rear with stab on it.
Henri's forward fuselage he starts to fill the holes.
The airbrake is in place, also the wing fixing, you can also notice the plugs for the rear connection on the left side.

Excellent glassing skils. I used to do the same mould work for a motorhome company here in the uk, we built the plugs for the molds the exact way you have, its great to see someone making a plane the same way we designed and built parts for motorhomes ha ha. keep up the good work,

The first half of the third fuselage removed from the mold.
Half a fuselage is out.
The fuselage is super no bubble in sight.
The third and final forward fuselage is finished. This is mine and most beautiful .... Yes!
In fact all the bubbles were not visible but there are some in the end nothing serious.

Christian and my fuselage both parts assembled. A great job while I was away of Christian and Jean-Claude, thank you to them.
The join of the fuselage is very clean. They also took the opportunity to make fixations of the wing: very strong.

RE: Pilatus PC9 1/3 scale
We continue with the construction of Christian's plane.
Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures.
You can see the gears doors are cut.
Playing with the retracts
On the PC9 the front wheel while retracted had a little part outside the plane.
Stephane and Christian trying to fix the rear fuselage to the front.
the plane finally, a very beautiful part. 3,4 meters from one end to another.
Fixation of the central section of the wing.
The wing is in place it must now be locked.
Here it is the aircraft on its landing.
Wings mounting
At this angle we see the side plates for the pilots.
Nice piece in the room. But it's just it goes.
Measure the distance result there is just 3 centimeters left.

The frame is made from the cockpit with its hinge.
The opening works without difficulty.
Fully open.
The frame is made of wood glued and reinforced corners.
The facility is due to the fact that we redone the edges of the cockpit to get them perfectly straight.
Spying on the fixation of the Christian's stab.
the antenna atop the rudder.
View of the hinge of the rudder.
Other Christian's hinge for the rudder.

RE: Pilatus PC9 1/3 scale
The airfoil is a NACA 2415 which is probably not on the real one.
Tomorrow will probably be the day of two of us.
I will tell you then how it was.

The maiden has been done yesterday on Christian's plane.
Henri's plane had a little problem with his fuel tank he decided not to fly it because of that.
Here are the videos :
Ground testing.

RE: Pilatus PC9 1/3 scale
Hi all,
The second plane is airborn. Today despite the bad weather, the 24 has done her first flight. Everything was very well.
Here is the video :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2N4hDh8S-KY
Back to the construction now.
I made this airbrake kit... CNC cut from a 1 mm sheet epoxy.
It does not look bad this kit, I feel I'll make two more ...
Here is the real one.
