Have the original RealFlight w/ the original controller with the 15 pin game port connector. Added on add-on volumes 1&2, then the add-on to upgrade to RF Deluxe. Things were fine then. Computer died and I got a new superduper deluxe Pentium 4 1.6 gig w/ a 64 megabite VGA card, anticipating to upgrade w/ the upgrade CD to next-generation G2. Got my new computer and there is no 15 pin port connector which means I cannot use my original RealFlight controller w/ the 15 pins. I have 4 USB ports, 2 cereal ports, and a firewire port. I have every port except for one to dock a boat in... I do not want to have to purchase a complete new G2 package with a cereal port controller, etc because of more cost, plus I already have all of the other stuff. I searched on the internet for a USB to game port adapter and found one at this sight: http://www.usbgear.com/usa/item_9.html

along w/ the above address, my search found http://www.gpsoftware.com/kb/q01-1013.htm

the first site is a USB game port adaptor by RockFire, part no. ijoy1 for $26. the second site is problems that people had running G2 with this adaptor and how to fix them. Now after I have written this book, here are my questions:
1. Has anyone tried this adaptor?
2. Will it work with XP?
3. Will I be able to upgrade with the G2 upgrade CD?
4. Will I lose any functions or quality going this route?
5. Is there a better way?
6. I want to thank my wife for typing all of this.

I appreciate your responses and your help in this matter. I really do not want to have to tear into my new computer and install an outdated card that has a 15 pin connector.

Thank you,
Roy Seals

I have one of the Game Port to USB adapters I can try it out, I was going to call GP and ask what the change out cost is going to be for the new USB controller anyhow. Send them mine from G2 and get the new one.

I tried that
But they told me that they do not have any of the USB type to swap out. The only ones avaliable You have to buy from a Realflight distributor.
That info I got Today.

Thanks Bug
Roy I just checked it out! No go with the USB to Gameport adapter system will not see the controller. That to me is strange in itself as it recognizes a Sidewinder Pro with the adapter but not the Realflight controller.
