Am I the only Marine technician in the bunch?? I work on boats for rich guys that constantly get loaded and break their large expensive toys, then **** about how much it cost to get it fixed.

Marine technician "Definition" Gas/Diesel Mech, plumber, electrician, Fiberglass/wood repair, truck driver, lift operator, customer service, tool maker, metal fabricator, HVAC, punching bag, and all around good guy (If your boats broken).

I know there is more but you get the idea.

Miloh.

I love this thread, very interesting knowing what we all do.

I'm a Quality Engineer for a lead acid battery manufacturer. Until recently we made those little 7 AH and 5 AH field box batteries you use to power your stater and fuel pump. They are made by the zillions in China now, so we had to re-tool. Ever wonder why, when the electricty goes out in your house, your phone still works? We make the back-up batteries for telcommunication companies, power utilities and nuclear facilities. Our largest unit is a 2 volt single cell that weighs over 700 lbs!

Dental technician turned auto mechanic turned independent auto repair shop manager. Been working on cars since I was 6. No lie.

Gotta do something to keep up this crazy habit.

I have been more or less unemployed since Dec 2002.

Now I am an Internet developer for an Internet marketing company. I got the job last week. I was laid off from my previous job, but was offered a pretty good severence package, so for 3 months I was a flying, building fool.

It is nice to be working again, but now that Midwest Extra will have to sit on the building boards for a little while longer.

Woah, never noticed this thread before... Neat buncha' guys we have here!

I'm a mechanical engineer, use to design automated laser imaging machines for the graphic arts industry. Right now I'm on a team making a machine that produces flat panel displays, BIG displays... (sadly, I can't get any samples to take home) Its kinda' cool but the best part is the lunch table conversations with all the other geeks and their 'combustion' stories.

I did the electrical design and programming for automated assembly stations for awhile then worked for 5 years in Data Acquisition and as a tire specialist for a stock-car team...then I decided it was time to actually do something in my degree field. Since my Electrical Engineering degree is in Power Distribution and Communication Electronics, I took a job with a power company. Now I am a Transmission System Supervisor .

Basically I sit behind 11 computer screens and a Map Board in the control room and pray storms don't wipe out the transmission system.

And for some strange reason people want power 24/7 so I work a rotating shift, but it isn't all bad, as long as everything is going right at night, I get to play around on here

I am a chemical engineer in Houston designing all of those chemical plants and refineries we love so much. Don't worry most of my plants are built in other countries leaving this Houston air so nice and clean. One good advantage is with the cyclic industries I sometimes get plenty of time to build new toys.
