Status: offline 		(ex USAAF B-24J 42-110007) The single US Navy BQ-8 detonated prematurely over the Blyth Estuary, England, killing Lt. Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. and Lt. Wilford J. Willy. See.. I thought it was a B-24.

Upkeep bouncing bomb, known by the manufacturers as Vickers Type 464, and I think it was dropped from a Avro Lancaster.

Status: offline 		Brad, yes it has been made into an RC model and I have been lucky enough to have been its (this ones) only pilot.
Built from plans by mate Barry who loves this AC and got the plans from the UK.
He extended the wings by 6" and it flys beautifully.
I dont think it is avaliable in a kit though. I would say not.

There are two gentalmen working on a 1/5 scale Westland Whirlwind on RC scale builder here's the link http://www.rcscalebuilder.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=12683&PN=1&TPN=1 you will need to create an account, but no worries it's free to view the build thread. Vance has already built one Westland Whirlwind 1/7 scale with 76" wingspan.

Ok, to keep things rolling right along here,,,, being Spitfire mad it has to be a question on them.

So, which earlier marque Spitfire was used as the basis for the prototype Mk XIV airframe?

I hope that is in line with the idea of the thread. I'll be back on tomorrow to see if (how many) anyone got it.

Yes the MkVIII had a some what strengthened fuselage and wing compared to earlier Mk's and had the retractable tail wheel as well. Earlier Griffon engined Spits used some Mk V fuselages but the Mk XIV was a MK VIII.

Cozzens' "Guard of Honor" opens with a scene in an AT-7. I think you're both up: both answers at 6:08.
