Rather than ask everyone else to buy and try something new, why not do it yourself? Make it your responsibility to take the initiative for a change. Then you can report back all your experiences.

Or you can do a simple search in the gas forum for DLA information. It's there, you just have to exert a little effort.

T.O.M. I was not asking someone to buy and try the engine. Just looking to see if anyone had already tried it and could shed some light. I don't mind trying new things. I tried DL at the field I fly at before anyone else and Area 51. Just looking for info.

There has been a little reluctance in people buying this product. The earlier suggestion to PM Jedijody was good advice.

That's what I'm talking about. Is there a problem with the engine? The reluctance is why I'm asking. I did better than to PM Jody, I called. He was out but I invited him to chime in on this or to call me. This is just a quest for info on something I saw offered here on RCU.

I wasn't out, I was running engines. I returned your call within a couple hours and left you a message, you're it. I will truthfully answer questions about the DLA 56 I evaluated in a private setting. You must understand, the engine was provided to me for evaluation for distribution rights, not a public review. What I have posted about it was only to correct "inaccuracies" claimed by the manufacturer. I don't need to get slammed by those that will claim I am only trying to kill the competition, I wouldn't and won't need to.

Hi Guys,
We have now been testing the DLA 56 for a couple of months now and we have been using it at least 3 to 4 flights a session 2 to 3 times a week and so far it has been flawless starts easy hasn't missed a beat hasn't dead sticked nothing...!!
and in the words of the pilot a "joy to fly"
I haven't got any realistic prop/rpm figures but I will be getting the engine back soon for inspection once we have used it a bit more.

The 112 we had one or two issues with it which were very minor and easily corrected, nothing that any other engine didn't suffer from in the early days.
I think it has now had about 4 flights although suffered from a misfire which was corrected with a new ignition module.

Here is a flight vid of the 112 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Vdo479F9n8

Paul

A bit odd. Most people manage to obtain some kind of tach values fairly early on. At what point are engines in the UK considered to be worthy of obtaining an rpm value?

Does it seem to be anywhere close in power to a DLE 55?

I would venture a guess it's almost exactly the same as a DLE since they share the same parts. Does the word "clone" have any significance here? That might be a little innaccurate since at least the piston is from the DLE manufacturing process. Just about any engine will run, and that's pretty much a given if only a few things are close enough to correct for combustion to happen. The long term is the area I have concerns about with any brand.

Don't think I'm in muddy waters at all. When someone is trying to push an engine line they are typically eager to get as many high rpm numbers with different props posted as quickly as possible. I do not comprehend holding back on those values for several months or more.

Do they have hardened cranks or will the bend with the least bump of the ground? I know that a few of the other "cheaper" ones tend to not have a hardened crank. It doesnt matter if it will produce 10hp if it wont last it is useless.

I just received my DLA-56. I am in the process of finishing up the acft it is in. I am just an average flier with limited funds. when I received the engine, I like what I see. I like the machined crank case. I like the apparent attention to detail it has been given. I like the Walbro carb. So far, in this stage, there is nothing that jumps out at me. I have had FTL engines and won't go that route again. I am taking the leap of faith and trusting my funds to this engine in hopes it will pan out to be a good investment. (lord knows I can't afford to many replacements). I will have it running by hopfully this weekend and I will post my findings with numbers that I get. Once again, I am just your average flier. With average equipment. Take it for what it's worth. Or don't take it at all. If I am satisfied, that's all that matters to me.
