I have both af these. The .247 on my Maxx and the Picco on my Savage. Both are very nice engines. I did have to do a little carb work with both to get them right. The Picco I had to take out the needles and clean it out real good. There was some rubber scraps from the orings in the housings that really caused it to run bad and not hold a tune. The XTM, I had to actually replace the whole carb. I got a bad one from the factory. The low peed needle was flattened on one side due to a bur inside the carb barrell. Now that they are right though, I havent had a problem with either. They both perform good and idle like a lawnmower. I do prefer the Picco just do to the shear power of this thing. It turns 9000 more rpm than the XTM, and you can really tell it. The torque of the Picco is unreal! It pulls my ext chassis savage front end off the ground at will. I had the .247 on the Savage before the Picco, so I can give a pretty good comparison. The xtm on the Savage just didnt have that on the edge kinda feel to it, you know what I mean. For around $30 difference I would definately go for the Picco, but on the Maxx you would be happy with either, but flat out grinnin' from ear to ear with the Picco.

well i'm just about done breakin in my .26 on myt svage and all i can say is WOW. The carb needle problem is fixed per ofna, so as of yet no problem with that, I have my HSN set right now at 4 1/2 turn out so its real rich and its only running at about 140 degrees after a full tank of running, and when the tank dropped below half and it started to lean out it lifted the front wheels off the ground, and thats only 1/2 to 3/4 throttle at short blips. So i cannot comment on the 24/7 but so far i love the .26

my .26 has a black hsn and a silver lsn. and still running fine. The guy at nitro house said the problem was fixed, and i guess the old ones had come with an extra needle, so it is my understanding is that if you got one with an extra needle than its an older version. I still havn't hit 200 degrees and ohhh the power, I definetly need a wheely bar..

Get the 247. It comes with a new RACE HEAD that lowers the temps and eliminates the only thing that was wrong with it.

The picco will overheat and the pullstart will break when you do the break-in process.

well my pullstart broke, on my picco but not even close to overheating have run about 12 tanks thru and haven't even touched 200 degrees yet, running at about 4 turns out and it still wheelies, this engine is great....
