Should be coming out soon and I haven't seen a thread for it. Post your builds and bits of wisdom here. Here are some action shots from Tamiya:

It's one of the coolest looking R/Cs I've seen in a while.

It might take the strange battery like the Buggy Champ.

Is it out yet in the US? Every place I checked only had it for pre-order. I hope it isn't like the Pajero re-release, where they only order it from tamiya after you pre-order it.

I believe that it's going to be about $330, close to that of the Buggy Champ. At least that's what Tower says it will be.

Yeah should be the same price as the Buggy Champ give or take. Pretty sure it's not out yet though, my LHS has a really good Tamiya rep and they generally get things a few days before the online stores sell them, and they still don't have them.

Those are some nice pics, takzi. I didn't realize that the motor was completely enclosed on the Scorcher. Also, those universal joints look VERY similar to those that the Juggernaut 1 uses.

Sheograth what store do you go to? I have been looking for a good shop in the East Bay.

ok, that front bumper has got to go! that thing is way to big and just hideously stupid looking.
it completely kills the scale look and gives it a cheap toyish appearance

The bumper itself doesn't look bad to me. It does look a bit out of place on the scorcher, though. Don't know why they put the Buggy champ bumper on the scorcher too.

Great job on the build takzi! This thing does look pretty cool. Are these old Tamiya re-releases very durable?

Im still debating whether or not if I want a re re. It would be cool to keep one unbuilt for my son so he could build it 20 years from now. Till then, here's the bumper/skid I like running on original SS. Its from CRP racing products.

Close to 90% finish....only left with the paint job on the driver..and the side indicator as i dont have that paint yet!!

As i listen to some of your advices, i did remove the ugly front bumper!..and it looks much better!

Thank you all for your comment...:-)

Takzi, that is an amazing build! Great job on the paint a decals. I have to agree as well that it does look better without the front bumper.

I love these... was thinking of gettng one, the only thing holding me back is that every video i have seen of these they are really slow. i mean my lunch box will blow it away. does it need an uprated motor?

Does anybody know what the best battery to use in this is?  The tamiya 6.6v just seems kind of small and hard to find.
Thanks for any thoughts...

Anyone miss the full size one Tamiya commissioned?

There's a four page article about the Sand Scorcher in EVO magazine this month featuring the full size one.

Amazing job Takzi, really nice.

I still haven't picked one of these guys up, just got finished with my second buggy champ so I'll probably buy a Scorcher soon.

This just in!  RC Channel rear suspension mod for the Buggy Champ/Sand Scorcher is now available.  I wanna se how it holds up durability wise and if it gives any real improvement.  I sure think it looks cool and it doesn't distract from the original style.  Here's the link.  http://www.rccarparts.biz/product_info.php?cPath=67&products_id=467  and to the purists I know, the positive static camber of these kits is part of the appeal, but mods are still mods and this looks promising that there will be some growth in this market segment.  Hopefully!  We'll see.  Love these kits!!
