Status: offline 		i got this in kuwait, is this thing real?
on the front it says SKYSPORT and under that it has Digital Proportional then T4YBF <- not a V but a Y, in the lower left hande corner is the freq. which has 79 on the front and 40.790 inside. my second question is: will i have to change the crystal for state side use?

Status: offline 		on the back its says made in china.. hence why i think is a not knock and not the real thing and gives a number 02013, along with a 6 pin din that is square for the trainer port. Should i fly with this thing or try to return it? I tested it with the servo's and everything seems to work fine. but i am leary of using it

Status: offline 		I saw a new Futaba at the LHS which has a 6-pin rectangular trainer port in the rear as you show.
Other than "return to Futaba" for a frequency change once back in ConUS, I'd fly it.

Status: offline 		I think it's a genuine Futaba, but overseas frequencies are way off from here in the states. I doubt it can be used here at all.

Status: offline 		It would be a knockoff. ALL Futaba R/C transmitters say "FUTABA" on them very plainly. They do not have a manufacturing plant in China, as far as we know.

A Tower Hobbies transmitter would also say "Tower Hobbies" prominently.

If the transmitter is a 40 MHz unit, it's not likely it can be converted to 72 MHz. There are too many circuit differences with that large a band change.

Status: offline 		Irrgardless who made it you will never be able to get a proper band change to to the proper band And it is a low value unit to start with, certainly not worth messing with. Yes Futaba and all the majors make cheapy entry radios. Best to advertise it and properly identify the band it is on so perhaps someone traveling to that part of the world could indeed use it.

Hard to tell from the photo but it looks as though it is a mode 1 unit which is used in this country by few and that fact will make it difficult to find an instructor to work with you.
