Madison Avenue says sex sells but does this hypothesis apply to Model Airplane Engines?? I see some Park Flyers and a few other odd model aircraft have women in their ads as well but the whole idea of using women to make a sale in this hobby seems ludicrous and out of place. Is it me or does that Brison girl have some type of odd facial expression in their ad? What are they trying to convey: Buy Brison and you'll drive women crazy? or Buy Brison and never be alone? or Men who know what women want buy Brison? It just seems odd. Your turn now.

A view from the other side:

To sell a product to someone, you have to get their attention. Brison got my attention with that one. Hopefully they will sell enough engines with this ad campaign to hire a better model .

I do not consider myself overburdened with piety, and I can certainly enjoy nice scenery when I come across it. But in the end, we, the consumers, will vote with our wallets. Their current ad campaign has not swayed my opinion of their engines either way, but I like the way their marketing folks stepped out on a limb. In the next year I will be buying a 50 class gasser for a Midwest Extra I am building. My first considerations are still ZDZ and DA, for their price and performance, not how much cleavage I see in their ads.

If their ads offend or put you off in any way, then you are free to let them know by not buying a Brison engine. When I buy an engine, I want to get the most bang for my buck, but in my opinion, a little eye candy never hurt anyone.

This subject was brought up several weeks ago. IMHO the discussion was rude, insensitive and embarrassing, as people simply tore this young lady up and down.

thank goodness the mod closed that particular thread.

As far as the ad goes, does Tiger sponsoring Buick mean you will turn into a pro golfer if you buy one, or perhaps any number of golfing associations. A lady could assume it has something to do with manliness. Another could believe it has something to do with race, or if one wanted to stretch, maybe have something to do with tiwan(spelling)

I see a young lady holding an engine in an add for Brison. Don't believe there is any underlying motive.

Then I guess I should keep my opinion to my self. Don't want hurt feelings or close down any threads. But I won't be buying a Brison engine any time soon!

See now, you just made me go look. I think she is lovely. Nothing to do with her involvement except a marketing angle to get the interest...

Who knows... she could be an up and coming aerobatic pilot for all we know

Works for me...

As an owner of a Brison 3.2 I can recommend them highly. They have lowered the price and offer a synchro spark which puts them right in line with BME and DA in this size.

In the last thread the girl got bashed by a lot of guys that could never get someone of her caliber. How many good looking women have you seen at your field lately?

Personally I want to go back to the politically incorrect days when RCM had girls in bikinis posing with the planes on the cover.

Can we leave this subject alone, as Divesplat said ,a thread just like this was shut down ,As I think this one should, would you like for me to bring down your wife for a differ facial expresion that i didnt like , or maybe she just wasnt perfect to my mind.

I would still buy the engine , I look at the engine not the girl.

My $.2

Brison Aircraft is now Brison R/C Engines - The name has changed, and so has the website - to better reflect our purpose in the R/C Industry.

But I still had to hit google in order to find their site addresses - brisonaircraft.com. and brisonrcengines.com

Jeez, guys. Take ten minutes and $50 bucks and reg brisonengines.com as a DNS redirect to your correct site.

The simple fact that anyone felt the need to comment about the ad in question makes it an effective ad. Complaining about it just caused a bunch more people to go take a look, so you just helped Brison out. I'm sure they are grateful.

IMO, anyone who feels the need to put someone else down based on looks, is welcome to post a pic of themselves here, and we can all make our own assesment of which person we think is more attractive - the person in the ad, or any of the people who are complaining.

I personally see nothing wrong with the ad, and I commend Brison for having the guts & integrity not to be intimidated by any of the "That might not be acceptable to someone" nonsense.

If I was in the market for a gas engine right now, Brison would probably get my money, and they would be welcome to include a poster-sized version of their ad with my order.

YMMV, which is fine,

Gordon

RCM still does it, just now they're in bikinis and are 9 years old - I guess the daughters of whoever made the plane.

Madison Avenue knows that sex sells and always will sell. Human nature isn't changed so easily. I thought the ad was good. Eye catching and most modeling companies don't put girls in their ads (don't ask me why not since 99.5% of the hobbyists are Male). If a guy can pose with his model then there is no reason a girl can't pose with it. I mean really, we are talking about having humans photographed next to inanimate objects.

I found another thread but it wasn't closed, just merely contained an invite for the posters to post pictures of their wives/girlfriends...

I don't see what all the fuss is about, prior to these threads I didn't pay any attention to the ads. Now, if she was posing with a pair of those spinners, then there'd be something to comment on..

I did not critcize the girl for her lack of beauty as she does appear to be in fact quite good looking - it was the facial expression I found odd. The covers of RCM with the occasional young bathing suit clad girls doesn't seem as odd and reminds me of Hot Rod and Motorcyle Magazine covers which often feature young girls or women standing next to a machine. BTW - Brison's rep has always been top notch but should improve as soon as their 52cc is available which will be in hot competition with DA, 3W, etc. BTW - I never saw the previuosly mentioned thread on this topic.
