Question to the EP "affectianados" out there....am using G5 and other than the a/c that are already configured as electrics (ex: some ElectriFlys, Flyzones, Hobbico NexStar EP, etc) which fly pretty realistically as EPs....when I try and convert for example the TopFlite Cessna 182 to EP (to simulate the ARF version with 1.20 RimFires for ex)...it basically flys like CRAP...or heaven forbid the TF Cessna 310 (Exp pack 3) with the EP (can't even get that one to take off...even WITH flaps)  "option".  Talked to knifedge folks and they really didn't have an answer other than..."These models by default weren't designed for EP"..like the TF Cessna 182 is prob the original Gold Edition "kit" model...not the new ARF that has a design for EP.  Or the 310...not even "officially" designed for EP conversion, although I know others that fly it (the real one) that way.  Any suggestions for "beefing up" G5...like going in with mods to perhaps "wing loading" etc (can't change the electric motor...on the TF models I just discussed, other than going from the std glow config to EP) or some other mod to make them fly more realistically??  Perhaps I'll just have to wait for an upgrade to G5 which perhaps might include the flight characteristics of the Cessna 182 ARF, etc.  Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

That is the major reasons I hardly use anything other than FMS just to practice fingers and orentation through the winter.

I don't have anything "stock" except a GWS tigermoth so nothing flies like my own and I would rather build a another plane than create a software one (or 24). I do like AFPD for the WWI planes in it though none match mine. It is sort of like flying other peoples planes to see what they are like.
Now if there were a sim that made it easy to simulate a balsa kit (Guillows, Dare, etc.) and test out equipment selection and placement, different wood and covering weights etc. to see how they effect flight, then I would buy it in a heartbeat.

I have G5 and I just tried the Cessna 182 on a Rimfire 120 and 7 cell 5000mah lipo it was overkill. What flight characteristics were you looking for?-BW

Wingnut...thanks.

Maybe I'm not modifying the right parameters??  When I go into the Cessna 182 a/c (the TopFlite 81" WS one, not the Flyzone foam ARF Cessan 182, bout 50ish" WS)...the only engine parameter it lets me change is the default OS Max .65 glow (piston engine) to Electric Engine...I don't know "which" engine it selects..jsut says Electric powered.  How do you select a "Rimfire" EP and the batteries, etc...?? Maybe I'm not "tweaking" the right things??

Thanks for any help.  I thought G5 would allow me to modify such things...just haven't figured it out...I guess??

These were just some quick changes and it still had exhaust(I am sure you can eliminate it). The screen captures are in the aircraft editor. The first one is the main. The second is the battery. The third is the engine. The fourth is the torque generator sub menu. If theres anything else I can help you with just ask.-BW

It happens all the time. It apparently hits a server every so often. Admin has to boot the bad one or somesuch.

Don't sweat it.
