We have a need to make some changes in our rules about servos. The rule about servos with only 4 grommets and
40 oz,in.torque. We now can get Digital Micro with 2 grommets and 60 oz, in.torque If the Vendor thinks it is ok to make them with only 2 grommets, it must be ok for us to use them in our racers?Do you think we need to change the rules?

Kevin,

Which classes are you suggesting to change the servo rules? Locally in Q-25 we allow (2) Hitec S81MG or S85MG (2) mounting screw servos for V-tails, but require at least a (4) screw mounting Hitec 225MG or equivalent servo for the ailerons. No failures to date from our group. I think Don Stegall had mentioned he had a Q-25 / 424 racer that used only (2) mounting screws per servo without any failures.

It has always been a safety issue and not a torque issue.  Would you build an aileron with only two hinges?  I wouldn't because if one broke you would most likely crash.  If you had three or more hinges on a control surface the odds are you would get it down OK.  If you only have two screws on a servo and one fails that servo is toast and will not be able to do its job where a four screw servo could lose one screw at each end and still function.
