Hey guys, i just got my first blackjack 26 today. It's 2nd hand, it was only 20 bucks but floats and needs a new paint job. I have the remote, servo, receiver, boat, manual and stand. I need a motor mount, esc, batterys (prolly just have cheapbatterypacks make me two).

I don't have a lipo or anything brushless right now. I want to upgrade all of my cars and trucks and bikes to brushless its just kind of expensive.

So my question is, what would you guys recommend for some decent speed and fun within a reasonable price to set this up ?

I would like to stay under 100 for everything if i can. Just let me know what you guys think/have tried/like.

Also what upgrades should i do? it seems the steering is kind of tight/hard to turn?

Has anyone built a trailer for theirs? That is my plans for this one. I just need ideas/pictures of how to build one for this type of hull.

Thanks guys.

just replace the motor and esc, you could try the aquacraft UL-1 motor and esc, offshoreelectrics.com do them, you can find out what batts to use aswell, 3s lipo x2 is used in the UL-1 and you'll need the charger for them

the stock Blackjack esc will take 6s, and these cats do run high 50s to low 60s on 6s with the stock motor and esc

The google tells me PRB3309BL supports a max input voltage of 21V. 6S exceeds 21V.  Realistically, if you wanted to run 5S you'd really need to prop down in order to keep amperage low.  I'd stick to 4S with that stock esc.  I suggest logging your draw with an Eagletree or some other tool before going to the next level.   Use a program called FECalc to estimate draw.

The stock esc will handle 6s!
many have runs 5s and 6s on these BJ26 boats with speeds in the deep 50s run after run, and a few low 60s with the stock esc and motor
google does not know all!
ask real people to get real answers and faster boats

Just because you REALLY tell me to jump off a REAL bridge doesn't mean I recommend shoving 100+ amps of draw through a 45A ESC.  Maybe it works if you want a SAW run, damn the equipment.  But what I want is a setup that's reliable.  Plus the OP said "I got it today".  He's not really a loose nut behing the wheel like you, crazy man!  I take it you drive a viper too?  See, you're different than regular people!

Have a good one man.

Looking past your comment, the fact remains anyone can run a stock BJ esc on 5s and 6s
No need to call people names on this forum or website.
many have done it with great results and with no failures, and no 100A spikes.
fact is you can smoke a 200A 8s esc running 4s with the wrong motor and or prop!
and what we drive around town does not change the fact we are all people who live on the same planet

The last thing I want to come off as is offensive.  I meant 'crazy man' in a friendly way.  I think of 'loose nut behind the wheel" as a badge of honor.  "You're in the big league" is what I was trying to get across.

Take it easy.  (meaning farewell, you know, not "chill out").

Gotcha!
my next question was, if you knew what color my car is?
