Hi All,

Found the charger in stock at a very reasonable price at www.greathobbies.com in Canada. Shipping was reasonable and customer service seems to be very good. Not sure on what the turn around time on the order is but will post once I recieve it.

Thanks again for the help.

Jimmy

For those of you currently using the Orbit Microlader charger how about giving the rest of us "Alpha 4" wannabees the lowdown on this charger?

What's your primary use?

How many packs, at what charge rate per pack and total, can be charged at one time?

How flexible is the unit?

Again it's always nice to hear the straight scoop from those who know.

Thanks,

Bill

I got my Orbit primarily for charging my large capacity packs. I just got into electric sailplanes and found this charger at a good price and all I need for my CP1700's. There is only one output so of course you can charge one pack at a time. It is simple to use and will charge all types of batteries. I got most of my information from RC Groups because there are many threads related to this charger there. I like the format program which will prime my new batteries automatically.

Hi All,

I bought the Orbit Microlader through the recommendation of many of my friends that fly electrics. It's very versatile and will safely charge any kind or battery, including the new LiPo cells. I'm just starting to use LiPos in some of my homebrew projects and really like how this charger can charge multi-cell packs where most of the other chargers can only charge 1, 2, or 3 cell packs.

At present the chargers can be hard to find but after a few calls I found one at Great Hobbies. I also noticed that Icare had the best prices for the charger and accessories but they're out of town until the first week in August and the money for the charger was burning a hole in my pocket! Looks like the chargers will be back in stock in the US soon (couple of weeks).

Thanks again for everyone's help in finding a charger.

Jimmy

Bill, they are two different animals. I have 2 alpha 4's and 2 Orbit V6.2's. I use the A4 for general management tasks like forming charges and charging field batteries. I use the Orbits for fast charging and will use them for the lithium packs I am gonna buy. The Orbits will only charge one pack at a time but will do so up to 6 amps. The A4 can do 4 packs but can only do it at 1 amp spread over the 4 four ports.

I think the A4' are starting to show their age because of the lithium packs but they still have no equal when it comes to nicad, nimh and lead battery management.

Just get 2 of each and you'll be covered....
