I know they're new on the market, but when I opened the box, my first thought was, I wonder if a G-38 would fit? I LIKE G-38 powered Warbirds. Has anyone tried this, or do you think it would be overkill? WLJ

William,

I just went and picked up a G-38 that I had put on loan to a friend to see how it would install in the H-9 P-51 150.

I think that this would make for a nice combination power/weight ratio wise. I like the added reliability of gas vs. glow.... although my Saito 150 has been very reliable, even being inverted with no on-board glow.

My issue with the G-38 install is in trying to maintain the clean lines in the nose area. I know we are not talking about a Top Gun contender here.... but it gnaws at me to see carbs and such hanging in the breeze.

Thanks for the responce Countryboy. This will be the second one of these flying in the club. The first is flying on a Saito-180 + 5oz. of weight in the nose. I'm just starting on this one. I'm putting it together for a friend. He's got a Saito 180, but thinking about getting one of the Saito 200 V-Twins. I'm pushing for a gasser. I'd be real interested in your progress with the G-38 installation. Thanks, B.J.

I just ordered one of these kits, i planned on using a G-26 in it, do you think it will be underpowered.
